    Ft. Lewis M35A2 Recovery (#2)

The trip was about 140 miles total, 110 on the freeway (I5), and 30 on various other roads, and a ferry. The "Evil Bunny" will be staying. I don't have any plans to repaint the truck before I sell it. Just taking care of rust spots.

    Ft. Lewis M35A2 Recovery (#2)

Well, I got my first deuce from Lewis a couple months ago, with the help of MilitaryRestorations (Thread: http://steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=21080). I decided I wanted to get a winch, so instead of buying a winch and trying to find all the pieces, I thought why not...

    Identify turbo

Compressor fin design AFAIK. If you look at the turbo identification thread, the C has quite a few more fins on the exhaust side IIRC. Also, with a contract date of 1987, I'm guessing that engine came with a D. The C's were usually on older engines. But it could have been swapped around.

    m211 brake system

You might look in the TM section of the SS site for the manual for the M211. The air pack is probably rebuildable. I have one out of a M135, unknown condition, if you need parts. The brake system is similar to the M35 series trucks. I never really dug into the brakes when I had my M211, so can't...

    1968 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2 W/W

I was able to take a look at wiggall's truck before I started prepping mine, he has a rebuilt truck, with about 7k on a new engine, tranny, transfer case, and radiator. Lots of new tires, and a new spare with the tag still stuck to the tread! Glad you guys made it safely. Have fun in the parade...

    ATF

55Cameo: With the 75% WMO and 25% gas mix, how cold can it get before the truck won't start? I've been running 50/50, which seems what most people do, one member said he runs 70% WMO and 30% gas, and its ok down to 0deg F before more gas is needed in the mix? Just curious as to what your...

    Second Deuce!

Well we made it home in one piece. Had a few minor issues, too tired and busy with work and getting ready for the 4th to write the story now, I'll get it posted in MV road trips and put the link here sometime soon.

Rear Wheel Seals - Napa P/N?

I looked under the Deuce this morning to see gear oil on the inside of the rim :/. I need to replace the inner and outer seal on that axle (Rear) before the 4th. Is there a Napa number for the seals? I didn't find anything in the cross reference section, just the pinion seals. I would order from...

    Movie Star

Thats a nice looking truck, was it from IMS? I bought a M1009 from them a while back, and it was as nice looking as your deuce!

    New to Site in Idaho

I also have an appointment on Monday morning to pick up my M35A2 W/W. What time are you planning on getting on base? If I have extra time, and you are there early, I can lend a hand with getting you ready for the road. I should be at the lot by 0730. PM me with you phone # and we can talk...

    Second Deuce!

54reo: I also wondered what that was. It sort of looks like the fording snorkle in the M211 I used to have. It was right about that position in the dash, but maybe a touch smaller. I have never seen an in cab fording port on the M35 series truck, so I'm not sure. I'll let you guys know Tuesday...

    Second Deuce!

I got my first M35A2 from Ft. Lewis a few months ago with MilitaryRestorations help (Story here: http://steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=21080). That truck didn't have a winch, and after looking at winch prices, it made sense to get a winch truck, put the winch on my...

    Battle Creek = DRMS???

The letter from the DLA Investigations seems to be a newer thing, and seems to only go to first time EUC applicants. Subsequent ones, or if you have been doing EUC's for a while, do not get the letter from what I have seen. I recieved the letter this past Wednesday, money dissapeared from my...

    Steering Stabilizer

Would a stabilizer also help in the situation of a front blowout? I have heard that in such a situation the steering wheel will fly from your hands, possibly causing an accident. Would a stabilizer lessen this? I don't have much expierence with such things, so maybe a stupid question. It seems...

Minor (???) Deuce probelms....can you help?

For the soft top, a friend of mine used "Goop" to re-attach the plastic strip to the top, then on each end used thin strips of aluminum on the front, pop rivited from the back, so basically it was plastic strip, vinyl, metal strip, and the head of the rivet was on the plastic side. You can...

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

Thanks medlog! About the NSN, I cannot read the NSN on the dataplate (hard to see in the picture). The NSN I gave you was provided by GL on their site, so it could very well be wrong. The data plate looks to be a 17 though, so probably just an error on GL's part. Thanks again.

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

I bought another deuce out of Ft. Lewis last week (M35A2 w/w), and curious about its history. Bumper markings show it to be from 81BDE, 181SPT, and its HQ vehicle 80. VIN: 0539-10455 REG:04C-63271 NSN: 2320000771616 Thanks much, Caleb

    Air Pressure leak

On the airpack, frame side, there is an airline coming in, that goes to a flange, which is held to the airpack by 4 bolts. I had a slight air leak I could feel around that area. After tightening the four bolts equally, the leak went away. They are a bit hard to get to, patience is your friend...
