How fast do you drive your Deuce?

48-50, 2000-2200 rpm. Leaves a little top end to manuver if need be. With a good load on or a trailer about 45 just to respect the brakes.

    M 105 Axle Swap

The M-101 is much more suited and you don't have to get into any modifications. Flip the pintle, get nice receiver that wil accomidate a pintle, and put on some 12 volt lights. The best of all worlds, no bother to keep switching lightbulbs, and the Mil light cable can stay intact for pullng...

    Big Mac

Nice shots DaveP, Seeing as how I had to drive over the Mighty Mac both ways in the dark alone in a 20 mph wind in the poor deuce....Yikes!!! 'Sides I think they raised the per axle charge since then...

    Knuckleboom trailer project

Man Rattlehead, love the little roller-arounder-motor-hauler!! So you HAVE been coveting DaveP's crane... That boom will come in handy. It's amazing how often you need to pick something up, and a bed to put stuff on to boot. Thats an ambitious project. Now plans for a genset and welder...

    Recovery trip in progress

The NDT tires can get flat sided sitting a while so that could be the source of your bouncing, especially with a tractor where there is not much wieght to bring up the tires to a temperature where they will round out. You will find the tractor rides a bit more 'bouncy' with out a load on it. I...

Picked up a M37, getting redy to paint!

My M-37 was painted yellow with a unidentified paint that was so hard I gave up on trying to remove it. I used a little hand held buzzer sander to level it and scuff it up. Then filled the heavy scratches and stone chips. I used Rust-Oleum 7769 Very Rusty primer and for me it worked well as...

5 ton woe's from Ft Hill UT to Kennewick, WA

I know you are on the road. just brain storming here, but perhaps there is a local heavy equipment mover/operator near by that has a drop bed trailer you could commission to move the thing to thier yard for a pre-determined fee and store it there until you can evaluate the truck or find a long...

    Picking up 105 Saturday

Those things are sooo handy...They pull good with a pickup and roll nice, put some removable 12 volt lights on 'em and haul stuff. If ya can't afford a MV truck to go with it at the time, get a M-101 or M-105 and ya got green iron!!! (or Desert Storm). So many wood haulers ask were in the world...

    Gas Tank Sealer

My M-37 gas tank was pitted and full of rust scale. I called several places to see about sealing it but the prices ran $200+ for them to do it. After asking around some I found a product Red-Kote used by a radiator shop. I tried banging on the tank and tossed stuff into it to get the rust out...

Zeeland Mich Step Into the Past

This past weekend Zeeland sponsored a Historical Time Line starting with the Revolutionary War to the present. Re-enactors, living historians or what ever you choose to call them, set up an example of a soldier field camp of the era for the public to come by and ask questions and learn about...

    Deuce Fuel Mileage

Turbo with no racks or canvas. 10-12 mpg. Pulling a trailer really knocks it down to about 8 mpg. Keeping it under 50, 45-48 seems to really help too. Did a 1250 mile round trip unloaded down there and loaded back 9.5 mpg. average. I call it keeping your foot out of the accelerator. But then...

    Lady Liberty B-17

I suppose you guys that are in more populated parts see these things all the time at air shows and such. Well it is very unusual for a B-17 to land in northern Michigan. The airport had a new terminal built and this B-17 " Lady Liberty" was flown in for the grand opening. It was magnificant...

    New animal in the yard.

RE: Weasel Now think about it....3,500 miles in a Weasel...thats alot...I COULDA bought one years ago in the early'80's that a guy was hauling logs out with....always in retrospect...looks cool and it will fit in a Deuce bed even.

    Interesting Engine on auction

It does look like it could be a Contenental. Have seen some in Massey Harris 30 tractors and self propeled combines, pumps. My Massey Harris had a historicaly under powered starter in 6 volt so it was converted to 12 volt. But sometimes I just crank started it!

    Deuce spitting coolant, but why?

I just had mine repaired. Leaking at the top seam and dribbling down the front and smelling of anti-freeze. it was time for a fluid change anyway and $50 for the shop to fix it and do a pressure check for anymore problems. Mine behaves like some of the others that if you over fill it it will...

    hot hubs

Well I am with DaveP on this one..same thing, hub just started getting hot. Re-sealed and packed. No change still hot. Replaced the bearings and races and properly seated them, still gets hot in 10 miles. I have had this truck for 7 years and why would a hub start to get hot out of the blue...
