I tried turning it with a breaker bar, and I didn't see any change in the alignment. I gave up after two short turns. Guessing it's going to take a lot of turns to get a little change there? Don't suppose you know offhand what size bolt that is in there, also?
I don't see a way to get these out. I cannot fit a socket in over even the most accessible one, let alone the other visible one, and the one I can't even see.
All I have to say is "Good Luck". I'm in MA and they're not easy to come by around here, unless you want one that's more rot than truck. They don't show up often on govliquidation around here, either.
Yeah, that's how mine came apart like that. I felt a little resistance coming from the two lines still attached, but other than that it came right out. Speaking of, anyone have any good "tricks" for getting at those last two lines?
Guess I'll have to try the oil filler trick when I go at it...
So I started work on changing out the injection pump today on my 1009. I got the intake manifold off, took off the top 6 injector lines, and unbolted the pump from the motor.... and apparently failed to anticipate a major step. I tugged on the pump a little, and the pump came back.... with the...
Seconded. I had a lot of problems with my wipers over the winter and when I bypassed the capacitors (the harness unplugs and goes right into the wiper motor), it improved a LOT. Bypass them either way.
So I've got my new pump shipping to me within the next few days. I grabbed it on eBay, and the kit comes with all the involved gaskets (manifold, pump, air cleaner base). I plan on putting it in on the first dry weekend after I get it. What, if anything, should I know about this job in...
eBay Motors: 6.2 CHEVY 6.2L STANADYNE DIESEL INJECTION INJECTOR PUMP (item 180336581177 end time Apr-12-09 10:22:00 PDT)
Buying it for my '86 M1009, and I just want to make extra sure it's the right one before I do it. Also, are the seals that are included in the kit all I'll need to replace...
Called around today and two injection shops, plus two general diesel mechanics, all seem to favor the pump as the problem. So my next question is... anyone got a good IP they want to sell for short change?
I finally got my air in fuel problems sorted out in my M1009 (at least I think so, it started up without a hassle this morning anyway), and then tonight I went to pull on the highway and put the pedal to the floor, to find ANOTHER developing problem. I got a very unhealthy feeling stumble on the...
There are a few like this listed in the MA govliquidation auctions. Anyone know anything about these? I was thinking about getting one and putting rails along it, using it to haul appliances behind my M1009 for work. Are they stable enough in the front with that axle? How do they handle compared...
It worked, barely. I cranked the batteries nearly dead, but it worked. Now I have to find the fuel line trouble spot. Any particularly common "trouble areas" where I'm most likely to find the smoking gun?
They perform pretty decently on the highway, mine does 80 on the highway with no trouble (when it's running, anyway ). You should be fine going mostly stock for trail use, too. I've only had mine since June, but I've had no problems with the rear, mainly because I made sure to change the...
Yup, I know exactly where it is, just not really familiar with how to work the thing. So, opening that up and cranking it should bleed out any air in the system?
Holy crap indeed. I'm missing one and I've trying to find a replacement for months... maybe the better way to do it would be to sell the three I have and buy aftermarkets all around, then treat myself to a 6-pack with the change. :)
