how to turn up fuel...in pictures?

Ok, This might be a stupid question, But why tap for the pyrometers before the turbo? On the over the road trucks I drove the pyrometer was installed just after the turbo. Admittedly only one of them was an old mecanically fueld engine, The rest were the newere electronic engines.

    Yet another texan

Welcome from the land of OG terratek. Going to ask my lead at work tomorrow if he's seen anything like that before. ( I work in GSE at the former Chase field in Beeville) He's worked in GSE for at least 30 years, Mostly navy stuff. Might get REALLY lucky and have a manual or a TM somewhere.

Thank you Fasttruck, Still not sure what exactly I am going to do and in which order. I was just wondering if anyone would know the correct bumper number format for the 169'th engineers batallion for 1969/70 That was when My dad was in Vietam and Okanawa and I was wanting to put the correct numbers on the Deuce before I registered it. He told me that the jeep he drove had 169...

    A2 cruising speeds

FWIW I try to run mine no faster that 2200 Rpm, Sometimes bump right around 2500 shifting, 45-50 is plenty fast for a 40+ year old truck weighing 6 1/2 tons. Really happiest at about 1700-1800 RPM wich gets me about 40 MPH or so.

    Crude oil

Hyrogen sulfide, Nasty stuff. Smells like rotten eggs and is DEADLY! A H2S monitor will let you know when there is too much of it in the air. Some wells down here have them on site, I think it's also called sour gas.

Does your deuce smoke at all at idle?

For what it's worth I ran mine about 10 miles toay and it hardly smoked. It's a "D" turbo. A little white smoke at startup and a not much under acceleration. Old diesel in it too.
