    Turning radius?

Sounds about like the setup on some spread axle trailers. They have a switch or valve that lets you dump the bags on the rear axle so the trailer pivots on the foward axle. The rear axle still drags but tire scrubbing is minimal with the rear bags dumped.

Oily stuff coming out of Air Tanks..

You know SOMBODY has to make ring kits for the compressors,,, That being said in 15 years of over the road driving I don't think I ever had a truck that did not put at least a little oil in the wet tank. From tired trucks with over 700,000 miles on them to brand new ones with less than 500 miles...

    NJ Deuce Newbie

One thing I would SERIOUSLY suggest is read the TM's available on this site. Check your brakes carefully, Single circut brakse can be rather exciting if they have a leak somewhere. Then really it's just fluids, Tires/wheels/wheel fasteners(lugnuts)Torque rods and drive shafts. Above all...

Thank you! Thank you Tie, M35! Just downloaded the PDF for the speedi sleeve, Looks like just the thing, And a LOT! better than trying to grind another keyway into the pivot shaft. I finally got all 4 torque rods out yesterday. Going to order parts this week and start going back together...

Things I found when I took the rear suspension apart

Bushings The outside bushing has both a key and the tabbed washer, (just like the axle nuts,) Is's the inside one that has nothing to hold it from turning.. Hehe, I've only had the Deuce for about a month, First one I have owned or worked on, But when I lost a torque rod bushing I just started...

    Rusty Custy resto

Rustoleum rusty metal primer? Favor1004, Rustoleum rusty metal primer? Where did you get it? I know Locktite makes something that's more of a rust converter. It goes on white then turns purple then black and dries to a hard finish. We use it at work a lot, One thing the directions say is that...

Things I found when I took the rear suspension apart

And while I am at it,, A question as well,, Something I found on the bushings too,,, Apperently the inside bushing has been turning on the shaft.Outside bushing has a keyway, Thinking about grinding a keyway in the shaft to put in a half moon key to keep inside bushing from turning. Things I found when I took the rear suspension apart

Ok, I thought I'd post some photos of what I found when I was taking apart the rear end to replace the torque rod bushings. The reason I pulled the spring and spring hangar off is it was loose, Did not want to just re install it without taking a good look. So far what I have found are two badly...

    Deuce dies

I think highfavor is right, I've had several different machines that would start and run great for a while until all the crud in the fuel systen got stirred up and plugged the fuel filters again and they'd starve for fuel and die. After they sat long enough for said crud to settle out they'd...

    Bad head gasket or worse?

It has held pressure on a couple of 50 mile trips, No milkshake/munge under the oil fill cap. I do have a couple of oil seeps around the heads though. Enough that i know they are there but not bad enough that it's sreaking oil down the block.

    Bad head gasket or worse?

I have a question,, Yesterday when I went to check the coolant the radiator had pressure on it from cold. Started it up and it built pressure again but after it warmed up it stopped building pressure. I didn't run it long enough to open the thermostat. No oil in the coolant and no water in the...

    Finally got her home,,,

Quick update Took the wheels of the drivers side Sunday, Fond a bad bearing in the spring hangar mount.aua Looks like I will probably be overhauling the whole rear suspension. Figure if the bearings in one spring hangar are bad so is the other side. I had too much free time on the weekend...

No More Political Avatars or Signatures or Slamming!!!

Just my 2cents worth here,, As I understand it Steelandcanvas created the Steel Soldiers site so he can do with it as he pleases. That being said it makes sense to me banning all political posts, even those made in jest(I ran afoul of that one:whistle:) Personally I came here to pick the brains...

    Finally got her home,,,

So here we go,,,,, Well,,, I had a bushinggo out on one of my torque rods so now I have to start buying stuff to get it fixed. I had planned on replacing all 12 of them anyway. Anyhow I went and bought three railroad ties to cut up and use as blocks. While using my generator to run the electric...
