It's a great feeling to finally get permission to go get your toy you paid for way in advance! Now, the question is, how much beer in your garage will you have when you get home???????[thumbzup] john

cost of ownership (the real cost of a deuce)

I'm with you all the way! Same same. I took batteries and drove mine home. Took 30 minutes to get it up and running including trouble shooting. 50 miles to my house. Condon and Skelly added it to my policy for 37 dollars. Title transfer with Historical plates cost 20.00 bucks. Cargo cover...

    Whats Allowed???????

Most GL guys are nice people. Don't know which yard is the pickiest down south. As to your batteries, Positive cable out the front rear of box, Negative out the back rear of box. The inner connection is a short cable big hole on positive, small hole on negative. If you get nothing when you turn...

    Yet another M35A3 Recovery Thread

I'm amazed how one GL site to another is regulated by a different set of rules. I think they owe you a new 650.00 alternator. They could also have ruined your tires. Gauges removed, tire demill problems, who is the idiot that dreams this stuff up? Anyone else that goes to this site should have a...

    Deuce boarding ladder stowage M35A2

I've checked the threads for ideas of where to stow the steel 5 step shop van boarding ladder. Other than cutting a door in the rear panel, any good ideas for stowage in the cargo bed? Obviously needs to be held at the rear so you can pull it out and fit it in the tailgate slots without...

1954 M37 Project Any Sugestions Appreciated!

I was shocked to see the original front bumper unit markings------rare! Very nice looking find. I've built two M37's and the parts references are spot on. Price on buying depend on : title, running condition, and all the stuff missing. 500.00 - 12000.00. You have to figure what you want to end...

Saw these on the way to Devil's Tower

I live 65 miles from them and have got permission to go in and look. 14 M37's 4 M38's 2 M38A1's, one deuce with water tank, one IH truck, all surplus State Forest Service and local Fire Dept. rigs. 80 % run. Frankly, they are beat and cut. Some I don't want to even try to fix. Mechanical parts...

    Engine block cracked

I like Jim's post above. If it's just a coolant leak with no oil, no mixing going on, I'd weld it. You can't lose anyway ,trying. Drain it down, grind the crack clean and V it down some. Mig weld it. The trick is to only weld it about 1/4 to 3/8 inch at a time. Do not get it hot. You want to be...

    3 Deuces Home at Last

Well you now have something to keep you out of the bars----Ha, you'll have to endulge at home. They will ask---What are you going to do with them???? I usually just say anything I want. Or you could say I need the others to pull out the one that is stuck. I'd love to compare them and see which...

    Deuces and Grandson!

I told my Grandson I was getting a Deuce and sent him the GL picture of it. He loves anything with a diesel in it. His dad has corrupted him------Ha! When he came over with my daughter last weekend, he almost jumped out of their car before it stopped. I was in the drive still cleaning it up. Man...

Help with item ID on my Deuce

Update: Yes it does have the rivited inside cab plate, and yes more 50 cal. links down inside the RH vent, but no prop rod for the hood. Most likely had the ring before the hardtop was fitted. I can't understand why they didn't leave the gun on it for me????

Help with item ID on my Deuce

:cookoo:I moved to the country, I have a cell phone, no F'ing Tv with commercials at 20 minutes per hour, and no f'ing kids vandelizing my property! I see Custer passing my house on his way to the Bighorn. Don't go there. I'm done with AS -holes dumping their beer cans on my grass. My Green...

Help with item ID on my Deuce

OK , I'll bite, If I found two Spent 50's in the battery box, with gravity considered, two links also (metal, no cloth, ) The hardtop could have been later, did this baby go to Vietnam as a gun truck, later to the Guard. The brass and links were outside of the box forward of the actual battery...

Help with item ID on my Deuce

If no ring, then this long vertical bracket was for a side gunner with the windshield down like WW2 Jeeps had over the glove box?????? Go ahead, screw with my mind!8-)

Help with item ID on my Deuce

Gun ring? I need a 50 now huh? I found not one , but two 50 cal. shells and links stuck in the battery box. Does this mean they had a ring mount on my truck at one time???? A gun truck-------Cool!

Help with item ID on my Deuce

I'm deep into fixing all the F U's and issues on my new deuce. Got the hood straightened, am fixing valleys in my hard top with a porta-power, and while straightening the screen guard on my exhaust stack, I noticed a 2 1/2 foot long tubular clamp affair between the passenger door hinge and...

    disabled passenger

I've seen boarding ladders with a hand rail designed for the shop vans. The hand rail stores under the steps. Could this work for her? You could throw it in the back easily. Check out threads on the classified section for boarding ladders. Possible simple solution .

Well, my deuce is sitting in my shop!

After 70 days of GL, I drove my deuce home yesterday. It's a winch model '71 GPD model. Got to Ellsworth and Ray was a real nice guy. Tried to tell me after I got it running that it was the wrong truck-------Yuk Yuk. Dead batteries and a blown fuel pump fuse. Of course one of the 3 studs on the...

    Late Memorial Day Update

The more you go to events with your green machine, the more unwritten vet stories you hear. They eyes brighten and out come the memories. A free history lesson. Another perk of owning green. Thanks for your story! John
