M1009 Electrical Disaster while changing belts

are you sure the batteries are good? your truck sounds like it's doing the exact same thing mine was doing when i shorted out the front battery. i know you said they're new, but they could have shorted out.

A CUCV with carpet? Blasphemy? You be the judge

no other camo patterns, but they did have solid black, solid gray and solid tan. I think the black and gray had heavier weights than the camo. After a 200mi highway trip yesterday I can report that the carpet cuts down on a bit of the echo, but it's still loud. I don't think this truck will...

A CUCV with carpet? Blasphemy? You be the judge

the spray glue worked to glue it to metal, but i had to use hot glue for the carpet to carpet seams

A CUCV with carpet? Blasphemy? You be the judge

LMC sells rubber matts for the front and rear, though I'm not sure how thick they are. I was lucky, mine came with a 1/4" mat in the back that has proved pretty indestructible and i've slung concrete blocks, lumber and jagged metal at it with no problem

A CUCV with carpet? Blasphemy? You be the judge

it is indeed carpet, albeit thinner than I expected. I did get it primarily to help with noise and temp, the pattern was just a redneckey bonus

A CUCV with carpet? Blasphemy? You be the judge

Yesterday I added carpet to the sides and wheel wells of my M1009. Walmart had this stuff pretty cheap, so it was a matter of cutting to shape, and then spray gluing it into place. I'm hoping it holds up well.

    Getting doors properly hung

How much do you think a body shop would charge to properly hang my doors? I changed the pins, bushings and strikers, but took the doors off to do it. Try as I might, I can't get the doors back on right. They open and close, but you can hear them rubbing on the body, and you gotta slam the...

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

that must have been even worse... at least i just spilled trash oil, and not oil i just got done spending good money on!

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

i was going REAL slow with the plug too, backing it off by hand... it went from a dribble to PLOP- FLOOOOOD in about 1/32nd of a turn.

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

no, i drained the fluid first, never got around to changing the seal. i'll monitor the leak after changing the fluid and see how it is. I cleaned all the residue from the old leak, so i have a good baseline for quantity.

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

no, i pulled the drain plug first (well, second... i always pull a fill plug before i pull a drain plug). I figured since it's been running with a questionable quantity of fluid for an unknown period of time (never changed in the year I've owned the truck) I might as well drain and fill while I...

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

well, the fluid wasn't THAT low, seeing how i managed to empty almost the entire contents of my transfer case onto my driveway aua. Whoda thunk that it would make a 3' arc from the drain hole, skip off the pan, and land right on the pavement. Forget the seal, i didn't feel like laying in a...

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

I looked in the -20 for a procedure for replacing the seal and couldn't find it. Does anyone have a page number reference, and if not could you explain the procedure in a way an idiot like me could follow?

How much is a "bad" transfer case leak?

So the rear output shaft of my transfer case is leaking. No puddle on the ground, but the underside of the truck is shiny wet with fluid and the U joint is also "well lubricated". I haven't opened it up yet to check the fluid level, but I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle to change the rear...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

changed the fluid in the front and rear differentials, painted the inside of the rear wheel wells with rubber undercoating paint (made quite a noticeable difference in cabin noise)

    CUCV cheap headlight, great result

i've got the silverstars in mine, made a HUGE difference. I do a lot of night driving to and from hunting spots before dawn and after dark, and there are a LOT of animals to see and avoid along the way.

Anyone have measurements or template for carpeting over the wheel wells?

thanks for all the help.... :???: I was planning on buying a roll of carpet from Walmart (won't need to buy a tape measure, as I already have one) and going from there.

Anyone have measurements or template for carpeting over the wheel wells?

I'm looking to carpet the rear wheel wells to reduce noise and help insulate the cab. Does anyone have ready made measurements or a template to make my job a bit easier?

Metalic scraping sound when making right turns

front hubs are not locked, though i did test and see if there was any difference with them locked or not. hubs locked and 2WD and hubs locked 4WD has no difference with the sound. It's actually happening less frequently than it was a week ago, so i'm wondering if it's wearing something flat?

Metalic scraping sound when making right turns

didn't check the brakes, but no noise when going straight, and no unusual pull or pedal force when braking. I would describe the sound as sounding like a skid plate scraping on concrete, or something scraping the inside of a wheel well.
