    Help identify these brackets?

Maybe some type of hoist/crane mount. There was some sort of Rube Goldberg device for loading/unloading cargo in a deuce, could be some remnant of that.

Picking up my first MV (M923a2) this Saturday.

At the very least take basic hand tools and spare fuel filters. You better call them. I think that is where someone ran into a building in a deuce and now you have to have them towed/hauled off base.

VIDEO - 5 ton desert chase scene

    I stand corrupted......it think it's a 7 ton.

VIDEO - 5 ton desert chase scene

DARPA remote controlled 5 ton "TerraMax".Known as the TerraMax, this robotic truck is based on Oshkosh’s Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) defense truck platform. Equipped with a military grade Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), it uses radar to avoid obstacles and very high...

M923A1 use as a commercial vehicle?

These trucks were not meant for daily use. They were built to haul heavy loads over difficult terrain (usually at slow speeds) while being driven by young soldiers who were not real keen on maintaining them while on training missions or during warfare. There are folks on here that work them like...

5th wheel to lunette conversion for m35a2 tow

Somewhere on here there was a guy that had taken a gooseneck flatbed and made an adaptor so he could pull it with his deuce (or maybe 5 ton). In the pictures he posted he was hauling hay with it. Maybe someone here can find the pics and post them.

    500 miles in a M931A1

If you are never going to convert it back to a tractor you might consider putting a lighter spring pack in. Otherwise it is always going to ride like a bob tailed tractor unless you put a few thousand pounds of weight in the bed.

One tire wearing more than all the others and have shaking above 50MPH M923A2

I have the same issue with the right rear tire on the back axle of my M927. It seems to be wearing a lot faster than it's fellow tires. When I first got the truck that tire would leak down over a period of days. I finally took it to my tire doctor and had it fixed (I also disabled the CTIS on...

NBC sticker on the Deuce air cleaner housing.

If your truck has been hit by Nuclear, Biological or Chemical weapons methinks changing the air filter is going to be way down on the priorities list.

Real quick question, M923 fuel filter

I'm assuming your talking about the 8.3 Cummins and not the 250 (you mentioned priming and the 8.3 has a priming pump just below the spin on filter). We picked up two M925's the other day and one of them had a filter issue on the way home (ended up flat towing it home). These trucks were prone...

Where did that tree come from?

I hate it when that happens.

    M923 receiver/hitch assembly

There have been some nice fab jobs posted here on home made receiver hitches. Maybe one of the search gurus can point you to one of them.

    M816 Boom Jack value?

On oddball items like this price is subjective......a lot of wreckers were sold stripped of TO&E items so they may be hard to come by. There may be a MV graveyard somewhere that has a ton of them laying around or they ended up on a slow boat to China when scrap prices spiked a while back. You...

    Exhaust Over Heating

Do you know if the fuel has been turned up? On a long pull with the fuel turned up you have to back off the throttle or you will build heat quickly. A lot of diesel engines have been ruined by "diesel doctors" that knew how to turn one up but not how to keep it cool. There are several...

    Brake Bleeding

Some states require large trucks to have maker lights (otherwise know as clearance lights) on top of the cab. Military trucks were generally exempt since a lot of them were soft tops.

    Why no Multi-Fuel engine?

I had a five ton tractor with the multi-fuel in it. It would not pull a greasy string out of a fat cat's arse.

    M929 Assistance Please

When shifting the transfer case you are supposed to depress the button on the lever. I usually shift the transmission into neutral to change ranges. As for low power it could be a number of things. Fuel filter (or bad fuel if you are still running what was in it when you got it), transmission...

m915a1 Allison Transmission swap for Eaton Fuller 10 Speed

Some issues I can see: Installing a clutch pedal assembly. You might be able to use a hydraulic unit rather than manual linkage. May have to relocate the Jake Brake actuator. Prob need a different flywheel. May have to change the lenght of the jackshaft. Cutting hole in floor.

    M923A2 shutoff sounds

It happens on all the 5 ton 900 series truck. Just the nature of the beast.
