    backing up in low

Keeping all the transfer case linkage well lubed helps make the shifting smoother. If I bob my spare deuce I am going to experiment with using an electric solinoid to go from LO to High.....mabe make it as smooth as shifting a big rig.

    Pick up on hold

When they finally release it I can do a pickup for you if you can't get it picked up by your trucking company before your time is up. I have a good working relationship with GL Redstone. PM for details.

Convert to 12 volt or use a power inverter?

I am considering a bob job on one of my deuces...the truck has major wiring issues (likes to catch on fire from time to time). I think this was due to having sat out in the hot GA sun for several years.....a lot of the wiring is cracked and brittle and there are prob several dead shorts in the...

OKC Pick-up and Shipping assistance PLEASE

I bought a couple of very old Public Address systems off GL. OKC Auctions picked them up and got them on a shipment to a location near me. Can't say enough good things about their service. Wreckerman gives them [thumbzup][thumbzup].

How do i turn my fuel pump up?

I'm not a diesel doctor but I'll give you the short version of doing "Cincinatti Tuneups" on diesel engines (Cincinatti is where they used to make Vise Grips....old time truck drivers used to clamp off the return fuel line to put more diesel to the engine ergo the name). More fuel will get you...

I'M IN LOVE lol No really I am!

I put a factory built flatbed on my bobber and custom made a set of stacks from HUMVEE fording exhaust pipes.

    backing up in low

Low range: shift 2-3-4-5........pull range selector to HI...shift back into 4th and then up to 5th. I can shift from high to low on the move but you have to remember to shift back up to 5th depending on speed (max in low is 28 MPH) or you take a chance on trashing a tranny or engine. If you...

Ok, its hot.. anyone put ac in a 5 ton?

If you have a hardtop put a small room AC in the back window and run it off an inverter. Redneck??? You bet....... but as one of Murphy's Laws states "if it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid". You will still need to insulate the crap out of it and chink up all the holes but it might...

    backing up in low

Low range is the way to go for all low speed manuvering......I keep mine in low in the yard...it is less likely to stall if you come off the clutch too quick. There is also no bucking and lurching when moving around at low speed.

New 809 series straight exhaust stack

I had a straight pipe on my wrecker......LOUD....you will have to wear hearing protectors or go stone deaf......if you are just trying to get rid of that huge stock muffler you can get a smaller one at Fleet Pride or similar store. That was my plan before I sold the wrecker. That kind of noise...

High draft pulling without planetary reduction?

I was musing over your post and I remembered when I was stationed at Fort Benning, GA I met a guy at DRMO (no GL sales then) that was buying some big Cat forklifts. He told me they were taking them to the midwest to convert them to farm tractors. There is one coming up for sale on an un-named...

High draft pulling without planetary reduction?

Just a few thoughts on using a 800 series truck as tractor: 1. Turning radius will kill you, even with power steering. If I remember correctly the M123 had a set up where individual wheels could be braked to turn tighter. 2. Everything on a 5 or 10 ton is heavy...engine, tranny, transfer...

You might find someone to sell you stuff out of the "Back Gate" but you could also end up as cell mates in Fort Levenworth, KS.

    Four speed browning.

I think you mean a "Brownie" auxillary transmission. If you think split shifting a deuce with HI/LOW is a beotch try splitting 4. It goes something like this: Put tranny in 1st and aux in 1st...shift 1-2-3-4...shift tranny to 2nd and aux to 2nd...shift tranny 2-3-4...shift tranny to 3rd and...

    Boarding Ladder theft

Were there pics of the boarding ladder in the GL sale photos? Did you ask one of the GL folks at the site about the ladders? This is why we can no longer roam at will at GL sites.....a few buttheads steal stuff and we all have to be escorted now when we preview. I don't know about Camp...
