Jacklegjim, you mentioned that you don't hear the knock until the oil pressure builds up. Could the problem be the oil pump? After I get my transmission back in my truck I will start the engine and listen for the knock, paying attention to the oil pressure. Probably won't be until Saturday.
I owe her more than one. I've Been working on the truck every minute I can for three weeks. I haven't mowed the lawn or weed whacked in a month. I don't know why she puts up with me.
About two weeks ago I started rebuilding my front axle. I replaced all the bearings, seals and bushings. I did the brakes a few months ago. Now it's all complete and installed. I just need to get two cotter pins to finish it up. The brakes are bled with the help of my wife.
After dinner I am...
The knock that my engine makes doesn't get louder either. It's definitely in sync with the rpm. I'm not sure if it's every rpm or every other rpm. The strange thing is that I have had the engine running in front of many people who are gear heads and not one of them have ever mentioned the...
The last time I drove my Deuce I heard a clunk in the front end. I knew my wheel bearings were in bad shape. I had cleaned the and re packed them to buy me some time until I could rebuild the front axle. Now I am putting the axle back together with all new bearings, bushings and seals. Should...
When I bought my deuce it had the same problem. I replaced the master cylinder then I started bleeding the brakes and one of the wheel cylinders blew out while I was bleeding them. Then I replaced all the wheel cylinders. Now my brake pedal is rock hard 5 inches from the floor. The truck stop...

Any jack stand can fail. I hate everything made in China. Unfortunately I couldn't find American made jack stands. My Craftsmans are even made in China. I work as a manager in steel fabrication and I can honestly say that sometimes American made isn't always better. Some days I am ashamed of...
A friend of mine recommend Redline light weight shock proof. He is an incredible mechanic and I trust his opinion.

If your brakes are out of adjustment, you will get very little fluid out of the bleeder.
It's not a bad idea to pull a front wheel and drum and have someone push the break pedal for you while you watch the break pads for movement. That will definitely let you know where you stand.
To keep things on topic I want to say that the wear that I see in this transmission that had gear oil in it is minimal. The rust was most likely caused dy water. The beat up edges on first gear and the reverse gear are from grindind (possibly a synchro) I'm not an expert on this. So over all...
