Dude... Why spend all that money on a separate 12v system with alternator?? A 24v to 12v inverter is CHEAP.. I just found one on eBay for $15.00 + $4.00 shipping. The shipping up to Alaska will be more, but still.... And it will handle 30 amps. Unless you're running a crazy amount of stuff, I...
That's awesome Twisted60! Sounds like an adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life. Everyone needs a crazy road trip or two under their belt ;) 8-):driver:
I think your best bet would be to run an inverter setup off of the batteries. That way you can run 12v stuff without changing over the entire electrical system. An M939 5 ton has a lot more electrical stuff going on in comparison with a deuce. I doubt you would be able to convert everything to...
Pyrometer measures EGT ;) In my post I mentioned that I will be installing one soon. Just have to hold off on more mods because I am spending so much on Christmas presents.
I agree. Recently had my first dealing with them (ordered a new turn signal switch,) and the experience was very pleasant. It's funny that you mentioned the wheel/tire special.. That's how I came across them and ordered my turn signal switch.. I saw their wheel/tire ad at the top of this site...
So has anyone here upgraded their intake stack and piping to a larger diameter, to help with airflow when turning up the fuel? I noticed on eBay that people are selling 8" military intake stack caps. Most say they are for the HEMTT (HEMTT owners feel free to chime in on that.) A 3" increase in...
Put in my new upgraded air filter today.. Fit great. Also double checked the mesh screen on my intake cap "mushroom." Screen is clear, and not clogged with paint. Mesh openings could be a little bigger, but an upgraded screen probably wouldn't make much difference.
You know... After reading through this thread multiple times, I think I'm more confused than well informed :shrugs:
So far I've gathered the following helpful bits of data:
-The 8.3 is easy to turn up, and is rated for 3,000rpm
-Don't use the marine injectors, because the spray angle...
Why go with the 5.9 when you can have its big brother, the 8.3? 8.3 has more tq than the NHC250, though as other people have pointed out to me the 250 has better low end power. In regards to weight reduction, the 8.3 is lighter than the 250, though not as light as the 5.9 that you are looking...
I seem to recall someone saying 650ish recently for the stock filter. Also, make sure there are no issues with the intake cap on the top of the stack. If it has been painted a bunch of times the mesh screen might be clogged up with paint.
Yeah I can see how it would be a pain. His best bet would probably be to get a truck with a winch, and make sure that he never goes anywhere offroad where there are no anchor points for the winch.
