    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

It is huge, the size of a small locomotive. All aluminum body. Really nice, zero rust. Catwalks are aluminum as well. This was made when metals were low cost.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Yep, that’s why I bought it. The Cat 1693 engine that the owner is keeping and the 3 air locking 5t/7t axles are the only thing worth any money on it. I’d gladly donate the rest of it for scrap value to the owner of another.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

I’m not saving it, but you are welcome to? :)

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Thanks bro. Don’t get me wrong, it is a very emotional thing to do and downright painful. I love mechanized toys. But from the other side, the less of them there are, the more valuable the remaining ones are, and parting one out can further support those causes. Thanks for the info post, I...

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

    No idea.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Yes, exactly, like the 809’s, but not air like the 939’s are.

    M923A2 water separator

I think you are talking about the white plastic moisture separator for the CTIS system? It may have a self drain mechanism in it like most, a simple float. See if you can disassemble and clean it, that is typically all they need, at least in building compressed air systems. I have never had...

    8.3 Cummins fuel adjustment

Agree with above. Timing increase is not supposed to add hp to an otherwise stock engine, but it is reported to add efficiency (MPG), and then help additional mods take hold even better than they would with stock timing. This is what the RV group indicates, which appears to be the largest...

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Yep, I know, I get it. And I hate to be that guy. But, everything goes back to where it came from. Everything.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Late to the party, as always. What’s the skinny on this? I just acquired one. Parting it out, need to give engine back to seller, but the rest is mine. She runs and drives. Pics in classifieds, but looks exact same.

    No power at idle

Another good path. Anything is possible. Easy to check and rule out.

    M925a2 Power Surge

I know, I’m still laughing too. Loved it. “Wrong holiday you Tool !!!!”

    M925a2 Power Surge

Apology to disappoint as always, the diagnostic tool was donated. But here is something I did have fun with this morning:

    No power at idle

Symptoms are indicative of fuel delivery as one potential issue. Reverse could mask such low power situation due to its gear ratio being more than double that of first gear.

Air Locking Axle Transplant for 5T, Anybody Done It?

Yep, thanks. Anybody actually do or complete a swap into 5t MV?

Air Locking Axle Transplant for 5T, Anybody Done It?

Looking to see if anybody has done the actual swap of the rare yet air locking 5t / 7t axles into our 5t trucks. This is not a drop an ARB carrier and not the MRAP axle. This is an entire air locking Rockwell top loader axle that was not supplied in 5t military vehicles, but supposedly fits...

    8.3 Cummins fuel adjustment

Yep. EGT gauge and then the video will be more than enough to get you in trouble. Move the injection timing to 16 degrees if you really want an efficiency boost as well.

    m923a2 not airing up

It’s the black hose in your first pic.

Why don't we see any N-14 repowers?

I don’t, you could probably find it though. I just had those 2 saved pics on my laptop from when I saw the article. I remember them saying it was an N14. Not sure what trans, guessing auto for simplicity, but I do know they used a V drive gearbox from a drag boat to bring the driveshaft back...
