Couple of weeks ago, uncoupled my M818 from my M871 hay hauler trailer and discovered that the truck brakes didn't work well - evidently, the trailer air brakes were doing most of the braking work. Found and fixed a leaking fitting that had drained out the brake fluid, and replaced the DOT5...
Remember how folks used to kill engines with sugar in the gas tanks? I don't know if that prank works with diesels, but molassas is just liquid raw sugar. I wouldn't take the risk. The inside of a fuel tank is not the same as the outside of a body panel.
Do NOT buy anything made of rubber from China if you expect it to last. I've had tires and air hoses quickly crack/dry rot if exposed to the sun within 2-4 years. Our military tires are made to last for many years, perhaps at the expense of comfort, high mileage, or high-speed travel.
As a...
That M872A1 deck is around 4.5 feet at the rear, and probably higher at the front when on the M915. Are you going to have to drop the cab and exhaust on the M813 to stay below max height? I thought of using my M971 to haul MVs, but figured it was too much trouble to remove hard tops and...
An armed shooter with a shotgun or pistol won't be much of a threat, but if he has a high power rifle and a little intelligence (admittedly rare in most criminals), he could turn the truck into a stationary barricade. You might want to practice approaching the suspect's location in reverse...

Do a search for CDL and you'll get lots of opinions and some facts. Best answer for you is to call your state DMV/OMV and ask if a CDL is required for a private non-commercial truck over 26,000 lbs with air brakes. Call several offices and get a regulatory citation if...
+1.....A young cancer victim is especially hard on the rest of the family, similar to losing a young soldier. Parents are not supposed to outlive their children. Cancer does indeed suck as Wheelspinner's tatoo states.
The best looking M923 I bid on GL I won, and it had new paint and tires. It also leaked so much gear oil out of all 4 rear seals that my brakes were smoking badly within 50 miles. I stood on the side of the road beside the truck with a fire extinguisher for 10 min looking for flames. I really...
I'll have to take a closer look at the M105's, but I don't recall seeing this setup before. I also have a M1061 laundry trailer that has the same tires, but I haven't crawed under it yet. I'll have to get back to you.
I usually get around 7mpg bobtail and 6mpg pulling a M871 trailer. I can do 50mph at around 2000, and that's what I try to travel at. I have some M931s, and a M923 but haven't had a chance to check the mileage since I refuel at the farm and can't measure the flow from my tank.
A fine looking pair! I was a little surprised at the low fuel mileage, but then I rarely go over 50 mph with my M818 with essentially the same engine. I haven't checked the other trucks yet.
