Memphis has standard hinge pins in stock. I was just hoping to get those modified OD Iron ones that seem to be better. But since they are Tango Uniform I'll go ahead with the pins from Memphis.
Dave does he have any more? (I haven't taken my PTO apart yet but judging by the condition of the outside and of the winch, I expect it to be pretty rough).
Ah, I spoke too soon I guess. Still can't get the bottom plug on the clutch side. Will try again when I get it all apart and maybe I can put that end in a vise or something. Was able to open the top plug on that side and it looked pretty dry in there. Little concerned about that.
This was brilliant. $1.20 for a pack of two at Home Depot. Just to be safe I threaded a 3/8" bolt into one, because my plugs were REALLY frozen and I thought it would minimize flexing of the tool. Soaked in PB Blaster overnight and used a 3' pipe for a breaker bar, and they opened right up...
Tried a search, came up empty. What size hex-head is needed for the deuce winch drain plugs? Running a tape measure across the opening looks like 11/16" but I'm thinking it may be 5/8"?
At the price of these, I'd rather not buy more than one!
It's funny what memories this thread brings back; when I was bidding on my deuce at Boone NG base there was a killer one there w/w that had a vise but they pulled it from the auction cause they didn't have pics up yet. It ended up getting moved to Redstone and I bid on it again there but I think...
I've seen a couple of deuces that had a vise mounted on the front bumper (they were winch trucks). I've always kinda thought mine should have one, since it was a maintenance truck (KYNG maintenance). Does anyone have pics of that? I don't recall exactly where it was mounted, if there was a...
I do not. A lot of the truck is still here. I got a 1-ton engine hoist yesterday so I can pull the winch. I have 1 side of the bumper bolts off. Someone is coming to get the front springs this saturday, so that'll leave the front axle off and he's going to crib the frame with 6x6s (or whatever...
OK my tool-and-die neighbor measured the stock spring as .615 diameter, .098 wire and .810 length.
The one he's offering is .600 dia, .098 wire and .875 long. So a little longer but .065 inch, not too much.
Yep, that's the exact one I bought. And I just don't see .009 making that much of a difference to use the .081 ones. I'll check the spec on the ones I'm proposing in the morning. It's at the office.
