There actually was a kit available in years past for the manual engagement of the sprag case that, from what I hear, worked really well and was very popular. It was produced by one of the then leading MV refurbishers. Maybe what you have is one of these?
How about this: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/deuce-fording-kits-f-s-time-critical.38162/

I am keeping my Deuce away from winter road salt, but that's just me. If I WERE to drive it in the winter, I would immediately start searching for a diesel fired coolant or air heater similar to what you see on semi trucks. Usually made by EBERSPAECHER or WEBASTO. I'd start at a place where...
The WIX 51458/NAPA 1458 do have the anti-drainback valve. When you initially changed the oil, then you also removed whatever oil was left in the filters. I am ASSUMING that the spin ons you removed were also anti-drainback type filters. If they were not, well.....
Then you put new oil in...
Which spin on filters? If you have filters with an anti-drain-back valve (good!) installed, there will not be much difference in oil levels one minute after shutdown and hours after shutdown because the only oil that adds itself to the pan is what little comes down from the engine internals, not...
Just finished a 3 hour round trip in pouring rain into the City (where I do not like to go with the Deuce) to pick up a pallet from a warehouse. Freight forwarder sent me to the wrong address. Once at the right warehouse, they could not locate the pallet. Turns out, it hasn't been delivered...
@V8srfun There is this stubborn belief that grease "flows". That leads to people packing cavities with grease, thinking that a bearing or joint within that cavity will, over time, become lubricated by this "extra" grease. It won't. That is why you see hubs and axle housings full of grease...
As someone said in another thread: Anything can be fabricated, given time and money.
You would likely look at a rear facing PTO add on to the winch PTO in order to run a hydraulic pump. Not sure if simply removing the winch drive shaft gives enough space for a good mounting location in front of...
The weak rod bolts (regular hex head) were in the past credited for many connecting rods escaping to the outside of the engine block. The recommendation from many threads on this forum has been to drop the oil pan and replace them with the stronger 12 point ones, available for Oliver/White...
Perhaps ask a machine shop if they can weld up and turn the damaged area. Depending on what shops you have in your area, that could be more reasonable and quicker than replacing.
Also, if the trunnion is toast and your heart is not attached to THIS truck, perhaps sell to/swap/trade with...
Ah, so the drum stays dry - no coolant comes out when you open the large cap. So this is like an oversized electrical coolant heater with a removable electric heater cartridge that does not work well and is impossible to find. Too bad, I liked the coffee maker theory!
Here is a thread on coolant heaters in the Deuce that you might find interesting: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/block-heater-for-a-deuce.27119/
Congrats on your truck! I don't drive mine in the winter, so I don't have any preference to share regarding a block heater.
