Can I vote again? There are eleven more vehicles I'd like to vote for! Cheers

Storage for Soft Top Trailers - What do you do?

I'm a fan of covering things with store bought tarps. I'd rather have the sun eat them up than the original military stuff. Many years ago, when I got into this hobby, replacing the vinyl covers was no problem, they were plentiful and cheap. And you could buy them brand new from GMA...

    Can anybody identify this?

I'd say save it (although $50 seems a bit steep in a junkyard). I personally don't need it, but I'm sure someone, somewhere, is hunting for one of those! I've also not picked stuff up in the past, but later found I wanted/needed it, or met someone to whom it was the holy grail. Attached...

    Camo Netting Support Systems

Here are some pictures of ULCANS netting. You can see the difference between the screen-like inner mesh and the fishing net on the LWCS. Cheers

    Camo Netting Support Systems

You have the LWCS. There should probably be more Ls and Ss in there, but that's what we called it in the Marines. I've extensively used both types of netting, though mainly the older LWCS. The LWCS can be a real pain to put up/take down because they hang up on everything! It is...

    Generator - Can you Identify?

All very interesting, thank you all for the input. [thumbzup] As mentioned before, the shelter is a mystery unit with absolutely no identifying data plates on it, and no sign that it ever had any. One of very few S-787/8s I have seen with none. It only stands to reason though, as the trailer...

    Generator - Can you Identify?

As stated above, all the controls are inside the shelter. Batteries and fuel tank are on the trailer (or, if the shelter was mounted in a Humvee, it would tap both from the vehicle). From what I have reviewed in the manuals, the head is the MEP-802A. The LPW2 engine appears to be the same as...

    Generator - Can you Identify?

Agreed! MEP-802A it is. I haven't seen one in that state of undress before. Kavesman, thank you. No data plate (frustratingly, none anywhere, on generator or shelter). But I now have no doubt you are correct on the ID. And the number of hours - it shows 100.8 on the Hobbs. Triple Jim -...

    Generator - Can you Identify?

Well, yes..... I don't know the identity of the generator, but I'm not a bloody moron....;-)

    Generator - Can you Identify?

Certainly! I was trying to get as much detail as possible in the pictures, since the site makes them so little. Cheers

    Generator - Can you Identify?

I bought an S-788 shelter from a junk dealer. In the front tunnel was some sort of machine, completely enveloped in nasty rotted insulation, which he said was a pump because it has a hose fitting on it. I didn't care what it was, I just wanted the shelter and it was super cheap. On getting it...

What is a “motor Pool” CJ5?

Here are some pictures of a military CJ-5 with a hard top. These came from a for 'sale ad' on the net a couple or so years ago. Cheers

TVA as in Tennessee Valley Authority? Cheers

    M100 trailers, Military topper?

Cool trailers! [thumbzup] I have seen something similar on M416s, there is a thread on here somewhere with some pictures. Cheers

    GP purchase M200a1

Pigpen, if you are planning on restoring the trailer to full MICLIC configuration, there are some boxes down in this area that are probably available. If you are not going to restore it, and want to dispose of the MICLIC-related parts, my son is restoring one but it is missing that whole...

What is a “motor Pool” CJ5?

They were used in some numbers "off the shelf" (ie, stock civilian, no military mods other than paint and items like fire extinguishers) by almost all the services. The USAF used a lot of them, particularly the Air/Security Police. Same for CJ-7 and other civvy trucks. Cheers
