Yeah, I'm in a conference in Austin TX and missed the ending due to meetings. My low (I thought very reasonable) bids I placed early didn't survive. My wife will be ecstatic.
I've gone through a couple of road blocks (checking for DWIs, licenses, inspection stickers, insurance and seat belts) with my M818 that does not have an inspection sticker, and was waved through with a smile. I know it's Just a single data point, but at least two towns don't expect to see...
A Recent GL scrap auction in PA went for about $21,000 and everything had to be mutilated -
5 - M811 repair shop trucks with varying amounts of shop equipment
2 - M811 trucks with 2 each 150KW generators
2 - Pioneer tool trailers
What a shame, and a waste of our tax dollars.
0001 -...
I'm an hour away from anywhere, so it was a quiet Memorial Day that I spend installing a rebuilt starter on my M818.
I attached a flag to the bumper of one of my consequtive VIN dueces and put it in the front yard near our mailbox for the weekend. My wife called it Redneck Yard Art, but she...
Federal CDL regs do not apply to private, non-commercial vehicles unless a state specifically regulates large private vehicles. In LA (and I believe MS), I can drive a M920 semi and trailer without a CDL as long as I'm not commercial and don't travel to a state that requires a CDL for private...
It's very state - specific, as there are no federal regs for CDLs and weigh stations for private, non-commercial large vehicles.
Call the state DOT/DMV/OMV... for the right info.
This was my first thought. Second option is to ship the Vett with a commercial hauler. Collectable cars are shipped all over the country all the time.
Congrats and thanks for your service.
Which 5-ton tractor? My M818 last summer was just under $4K with GL fees and taxes. Tan with just a few hundred miles since a frame-up rebuild (thank you to the tax payers).
Be advised some non-louisianians may mistakenly believe "coonass" is derogatory and delete your post. Don't know what they will do about the F4C.roflBut then, some Yankees don't see why we should have a Confederate Air Force.
Yeah, GL has posted dozens of trailers on that site with a price of $150 and a link to the GL home page. Maybe that's another reason why the price on semi trailers has risen in the last 6-9 months.

Finally!!! Someone took a picture of Frodo's "good side" rofl
Tim,
Just got back in from Philly, and hope to have some time this weekend between honey-dos to swap the M818 starters. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Your truck looked a lot nicer than I expected following this thread...
I could only come on Sat, but had a great time meeting new and old friends. Thanks to Tim, Ms Pam and Ms Jessica, and everyone elso who worked to make the rally a success.
I also took a pile of photos, but I'll have to sort through them to see if any are different enough from those already...
Interesting in the third photo that the tank had the invasion circle/star, and the other vehicles had the pre-invasion star. A mixup like that could get a guy killed. Hopefully, they upgraded the markings before they got to the front.
Just thinking of taking a deuce with no brakes down Stevens Pass would have my butt suctioned to the seat.:shock:
Glad you made it safe, and welcome to the addiction
There is another thread for Deuce stack covers, but I’ve been searching for a while for a cover for my 5-ton trucks exhaust stack that will fit snug, blow off when starting, and not look as fugly as a paint can or 5-gal oil can. Because of the quick turn at the top, unlike the Deuce, it was hard...
UPDATE for GSA sales - Preview is critical!!!
We all know it's a cr_pshoot buying from GL, but GSA can be the same if you don't preview the item.
I inspected an M35A2C at a recent GSA sale in Baton Rouge, and after walking around the truck, I was ready to spend several $K on it. Even though...
Ether works in the CUCV engines, also. Small shots straight in the carb got some GL vehicles that sat a long time with dead batteries running (along with a 24v jump). Not all started without other fussing around the engine, though.
A very few years ago when you could buy a late 60's/early 70's deuce for $900-1200, I'd have said that was too much. Now, running deuces that look like yours can reach $2000-2200+ on GL in LA/MS (a year ago, I had to stop bidding at $2k for one I knew started but had no brake pedal pressure)...
