Don't forget to magnaflux the heads the fire deck is real tin between the valves, if a Detroit is run with out water in the heads you will crack the fire deck.
the fuel system is a common rail style so you just pump the primer and the air will return to the tank through the return line, you can also crank it to force fuel through, it is self bleeding but its hard on the starter.
we use little oil pan heaters up here on atv's, the oil pan heater will only heat the oil not the whole engine. I donnt know where you are getting 600 wat block heaters for your 6.2 diesel but most automotive heaters are only 400 wats compaired to less effeciant tank heaters that are 600...
It is normal for air dryers to purge some oil the more time on it the more oil you will purge. change the cartrage you will be good to go. There is always going to be a little oil getting by that's why compressors for breathing air are dry or have a complex filtration system on them.
karosine jet fuel amd #1 diesel used to be all the same product just different taxes ,and for jet spec some extra qc testing and filtering for water removal. now days diesel for internal combustion diesels must also meet the ulsd spec if you have a pre emmissions diesel just add jet -a to your...
The correct reply is if you have them they should be hooked up. If your hmmwv has had the brake upgrade for add on armor kits ,or shelter carriers you likely have enough brake to stop it. We stuffed more weight than that into them rigs in Iraq they still stopped good. state laws some times trump...
Its been a while but I have a fair amount of experience on road oilers . I agree its head gasket time because of the white smoke once the heads are off have them magnaflux checked . I rebuilt heads and turbos for a Detroit specialty shop and half our head cores were cracked on the fire deck.
the 3l80 is a th400 with out a park pawl the th400 is one of the most reliable transmissions ever built, the only weak spots I know of is front pump failures from starting in extreme cold, and high hp applications can occasionaly rip the lugs out of the case. in 40 years of being a mechanic I...
where do you all get the covers I have run mine the last 3 years with out the cover it makes pretty good heat but today it dropped to 0 for the first time this year when it gets cold like that it just never warms up . I have thought about trying to engineer a shutter system for it .
I use a diesel laptop now I still have some bootleg oem software on my laptop but I haven't used it in a while the diesel lap top like others is big money so you usually only see a professional with one. with cat et, Allison doc and cat com link you can look at the engine and trans through the...
If you lost the high beams only there is a harness of the bottom of the fuse box that will burn the pin out, especially if you add a set of driving lights or ho high beam head lights. Mine is messed up and I have to get in and jumper around it.
Watch your alaska's craigslist, There are no shortages of m35's up here, I can rattle off locations of about 6 I know of around nome right now. There was a nice one on the matsu craigs list a year ago for $2500 with a frame boom, also search alaskas list. Now that said after working on a few...
I repaired the infamous broken outside door handle with a nice new one I got from Omar in tx I suppose he was feeling the holiday spirit because he tossed in 2 new window cranks to Thanks Omar.
I had one of these no start after sitting a while on a 1008 in the guard. look behind the passenger side fender well from underneath the truck there should be a brass t block there used for adding the winterization kit. Mine had the kit removed or never installed I found a loose pipe plug...
