For the 77-if you are trying to track down the no spark issue, check the continuity of the ballast resistor (the ceramic thingy on the firewall in front of the driver) they rot or burn out and that equals no spark.
Either that ambulance is not GI or it has been monkeyed with a bunch.

Some units changed the steering column locks so that the trucks did not have the standard key anymore and they didn't need to chain the steering wheel every time they got out of the truck. If the ad stated something like "starts and runs" and "no key" it likely has the original lock. If not...
For the "For what it's worth" department, after over 35 years around these things the trend seems to be that a deuce cargo truck will have about 30 miles on it for every hour shown. They get used on tank trails and for cross country work a higher proportion of the time than the bigger trucks...
Hi, Angie
I'm glad to see that you finally registered. You've been looking at the site and talking about the folks and the info for years.
I'm going to try to clear a little more of my schedule tomorrow so I can come over early. I want to clean what little oil spots etc there are in the...
The event lasts less than a month. What's this talk about showers?
No2-the M813A1 won't make it. It has been tough to get into gear on downshifts. To downshift from 3rd to 2nd on trails I have to nearly stop before it will go in. I drained the tranny and there were some small bits of...
She might be wiling to do that Gimpster but she'd want to use the 1" impact wrench....
As Amy wrote, I had rotated the tires and even though the -10 statess to retorque the nuts after 50 miles I didn't. I guess I'll have to come out of retirement and put myself on report!
The clutch cleaned...
Nope. It is 10,000 poundsand that is only on the first layer of cable on a bare drum. Never put a load on the cable with less than 4 full wraps on the drum. The more layers on the winch the less capacity the winch has since it's pulling in more cable per revolution and the winch is doing...
The winch just makes your truck longer and it will get stuck in the trees. Give it to me and you won't have to worry about it......
what's the approximate headcount or, do we know?

Does anyone know what an M809 Dana 6453 transmission weighs? I may drop mine to find out why there are some ferrous metal flakes in the oil and why it is having problems downshifting.
I can get the top cover/shifter housing tilted to one side but despite the -20 manual showing that the top...
I suspect from memory that there is enough room to grab the end of the tapered pin with a pair of needle nose vise-grips. I bought a new pin from either Saturn Surplus or Memphis Equipment a year or two ago. It was maybe $10-12.

I'd be interested, too but like DH, finding a weekend that's not scheduled might be tough.
For starters though, you might want to contact the Hudson-Mohawk chapter of the NY-PENN Military Vehicle Collectors Club. They are pretty active and are a great bunch of folks that include some SS...
Not always true. The units that had CUCVs used 12 volt lamps. Everyone else used 24 volt lamps. The model of the trailer does not have any significance, only the model of the prime mover mattered.
If you are going to use both 12 and 24 volt prime movers, consider LED lamps. They don't care...
Eric, some food for thought.
If my schedule allows I 'll go with you. The only two things coming up are the "Odessa Event" WWII re-enactment (9-12 Sep.), where Ed King and I go as vendors of WWII collectibles, and the Gilbert show. Oh, I have a meeting of the NYS Conservation Fund Advisory...
That will also go in an M41 or M41A1 Walker Bulldog tank. As Will wrote, it's not worth much to anyone who hasn't got the right chassis to drop it in. Since more APUs seem to have survived than chassis' did I don't know of anyone who "needs" one.
That said, I have a friend who has two APUs...
Hello, Dean
What size and pitch are the threads? I have a mixed assortment of Heli-Coil kits up to 1/2" If I have what you need you are welcome to borrow it. A lot of mine are metric but I don't think that will matter for your application. It might make the next owner scratch his melon...
There is a direct replacement starter switch:
AIRTEX 1S6152
It has the correct connectors on it to be a direct swap. The key will be different but it will get the job done. Since I've seen a few M915 family trucks that had had the ignition switch monkeyed with ofrpulled out of the dash, I'd...
Go to Walmart and get the 4 pack of the cup holders designed to hang over the door edge for $5. Cut the parts of the hanger off you don't need and pop a self drilling (TEK) screw through it an you've got a can holder....errr...cup holder....
We've got those cup holders in every MV we've got...
