FMTV has more room in the cab for stuff behind the seats. The cab over makes nosing up to things easy, and access to the engine with the cab up is nice.
Yes the Pintle rating should be the same. The major difference is, the fifth wheel spreads the load over more of the frame in addition to placing the hitch weight between the two axles. The pintle puts the weight at the end of the frame, less load spread. Either way the tow load rating is...
From my experience with no voltage. Verify the positive and negative leads attached to the alternator. Mine were switched when I got my truck. Went through everything spent $$$, and all I had to do is hook a multi meter up, which should have been step 1
He is saying the wires to the voltage regulatetor, unhook them. Then tap into the wire going to the fuel solenoid and run this power to the 24v on the regulator.
What this does is simplify how 24v gets to the regulator to initiate it producing power. The 12 and a/c are not used anywhere on...
Thanks for this post. Just followed your lead and completed it. Great parts list. For anyone who is also installing the gen 2 a/c heater unit, make sure you make your new lines longer than the original.
Haven't hit the road yet. In the process of pulling the heater unit and replacing with the heater/air conditioner. So I have some work to do first. also with only 1 of the 4 tires done. It will be hard to tell. I should have all the tires done by 2017 if all goes as planed.
Our rims were never balanced to begin with. As for weight the Dynabead website listed 24 grams for our size tires. I gave it a little extra. Also I made sure to offset the valve stem weight with the mounting bolts of the rim lock.
Well it's done. Added some airsoft pellets and assembled the wheel. Time will tell. If you look at the photos. There is no way for the pellets to get to the ctis system. The gap in the rim lock is too small.
As far as power to wheels. Each wheel has power to it until one loses traction. Due to the open diff the spinning tire steals all the power. A way to transfer some of the power from the spinning wheel to the one with traction is to apply some brakes, and gas at the same time.this forces power...
When in Mode and in first gear, power output is locked 50/50 front and rear. Normal driving the transmission range is gears 2-7, when you want low gear you have to stop, and down shift on the key pad. Then 1st gear is selected and locked there until you shift out. 7sp tranny with a granny...
The airsoft pellets shouldn't break down, the beadlock shouldn't let any pellets past. Shouldn't be any ctis contamination. Guys on pirate have run them for years without them breaking down. So I will roll the dice, worse case flat tires and a clean out of the ctis system.
I guess I will be the explorer. Just ordered 3000 .38g non biodegradable airsoft pellets. Only have one tire apart, will do them all as I switch the rubber around over the next few weeks.
I thought the same until I took the wheel apart. To me it seems like the rim lock creates a barrier that would prevent larger media access to the fill port. Knowing that I wonder how large the dynabead large is. The ones too big to go in the shrader valve. I know airsoft pellets would be...
Has anyone used any of the balancing media inside their tires that can report on effectiveness?
I currently have a rim a rim split and a tire ready to go on. Also re installing the Beadlocks as well. It's not the runflat type beadlocks, rather the metal hoop with rubber edges.
