I learned something new today. Looking at those pics, I realized that the rear "deck" is not the "swing down into position" setup I thought it was. I knew the support arms swing out, but I see now that the deck is stowed on the back (not cranked up into place via cable...
The 5-ton long chassis are not really all that uncommon. Tons of the M1085 with the cranes on the back are far more common (and a LOT less work to convert). Plus the value of a wrecker is far higher than that of a regular 5-ton long chassis.
And *if* you need to add length to a...
Good question. The easier answer would be "Anyone have an M934?" (because there are a crap-ton more of those in the wild than the M1087s).
edit: you might tray and ask @StratoCrewzr here (he has an M1087)

Note that there are actually *three* frame members. The truck has two then the box has it's own subframe. It's that upper truck frame member and the box subframe that allow for the (captured spring) give.
The 260a is awesome but keep in mind that the 12v side is 140a. It's always a battery on the 12v side (either with quads or duals) that's getting sucked on by the "vampiric drain". If you have a master disconnect, that will solve the issue. The only other surefire fix is a 12v...
Good job with the video there.
fyi: the A0 trucks all have the two cables on the 24v post. Later A1 and A1R trucks *sometimes* have only one. I only mention it because anytime I post that schematic someone will say "there's only one cable on the 24v post".
;)
I just lets you assign freqs to channels to the pre-programmed selection on the radio (in stead of having to surf up/down the freq ranges). So say you want weather on ch01, chatty crap on ch02, a fire watch tower repeater on ch03, rescue rangers on ch04, etc.
The reason you want...
Check the model number, but I'm 99.99% sure that you should be able to program it with CHIRP. You just need the programing cable and a laptop/PC if so. If I'm going somewhere I like to find the local park ranger tac and program it in as well as any local repeaters and weather...
Yep. Only saving grace with the LMTV is having so much open space to slide over and reach the crank. But with the center console installed, it creates a bit more of a barrier.
As far as music goes, I don't find it any more distracting than wearing intercom cans. In fact, I always...
*If* I ever get around to building my center console, I can see how power windows would be nice. I typically shy away from things like power windows in my off-road vics (one more thing to break) but if I put a center console in they would sure come in handy to get that...
Learning stuff here...
Trying to get an idea of what poly to use for bushings.
https://gallaghercorp.com/polyurethane-load-bearing-capacity/
So say Shore 80A is ~$120/gal...that should be enough for all the rubber bits and LMTV has onboard...
And cab bushings. They are out there somewhere (beyond just hockey pucks).
I've got a clean set that I'm tempted to scan/cast/or just make a squish mold and pour. I can make myself a dozen cheaper than the cost on ONE from a <point_of_compass_surplus_scalper>.
But making stuff...
Oh yeah, I was member on there long before I started looking at military trucks as a platform.
I'm typically poking around in here:
