Take a piece of wire and hold it on the side of the bulb and run the other end to the ground terminal on the front battery and see if the dash light goes out, if it does your ground at the bulb is bad. I believe the directional on a cucv will work with the truck on or off as long as the service...
To remove the pump the 3 nuts on the engine side need to come off and the 3 bolts on the radiator side which are reached through the oil fill tube hole. I use a magnet through the center of the socket to remove the bolts, don't want to loose one down in the front engine cover.
Reference the tailgate step, fig 184 in the -34P shows the bolts going through the gate to nuts/washers, doesn't appear to be captive. Enjoying the post.
From what I can see it looks like the batteries are still hooked up to provide 24v but he has only one alternator supplying 12v. The box attached to the fender may be some type of battery isolator. I can see the glow plug resistor is also missing which is not a big deal. I would start by...
I have done a lot of business with RIVRAD, Rich is a great guy. I road tripped from Maine to his old shop in NY once to get a few M151 power packs. Back then he had an old potato "bunker" full of MV's, it was quite a sight to see.
If we could see a few detailed pictures under the hood of the electrical I think we could give you an initial idea of what wires may be wrong or what to look at. I would return it to the original system no matter what.
I had the same issue and came up with this solution. Purchase a 109" stainless CB whip, cut it to about 65", drill/tap the jamb nut to 3/8-24(please verify). If your jamb nut is missing I recall a 1/2" fine thread bolt will fit, find a short bolt that will fit and drill/tap the center of the...
I'm running the stock size tires, 235-85-16, I was able to run 65-70 no problem. It seems to get the best fuel mileage around 55, although at 60 it handles the hills better.
5 or so years ago I aquired a 700R4 from a mid 80's 6.2 1/2 ton 4x4 chevy pu. I grabbed all the brackets and shift indicator for a complete kit. At the time my intention was to install it in my since sold M1031 shop truck. Funding and the extra work involved with the NP205 w/pto setup stalled...
The above mentioned aviation system is the way to go, you can run it off a 9v battery or 12/24 volt vehicle power, plug your external audio source into it, and the headsets are the most comfortable of them all. No switches to push to talk, just talk, and they are noise canceling as well.
Mine seems to work better when the temp switch is toggled to low, might try that. Also check to see if your indicator bulb is working, won't affect it starting but lets you know when it does.
