It is a remote reservoir pump, problem with using it is getting the hose out the back of the bracket. otherwise the hose has to come through the alternator belt. I am pretty shure the brackets are the same however I do not believe the small back one works as shown in the picture, it has another...
I second the leak on cheap internal wiring harness.
my first build before the TCI POS computer blew it up, the harness leaked, first rebuild guy used cheap harness.
second rebuild got the better harness, no leaks.
so when you have the tranny rebuilt, ask about the wiring harness and which one...
stock form I got 20+ MPG in both 1009's that I had, both had 33 inch off road tires.
With my 1009 in current form (see sig. line for mods) I am getting 18 hwy at 70mph. and 15 city (same as 2014 duramax I have)
My current setup the drivetrain is actually a 1008 with the OD tranny and 39 inch...
what fuse is it that keeps blowing. you need to check that circuit.
If you let us know which fuse, we might be able to let you know the possible problems,
pictures help
I have the banks 6.2 turbo for sale, the manifold is on ebay. Those are the only two must have parts. The rest can be made or sourced pretty easily. The manifold and turbo are getting hard to find.
I am keeping my banks manifold for the 6.5
you can get turbo and manifold for around $1000...
I thought the gen 1 light could be changed but the gen 2 light cannot. And the reason it cannot is because it has to have two way current flow. but I thought gen 1 was a regular circuit that could light an led.
I may be wrong so I am throwing this out there to be corrected if so.
Thanks
Rich
forgot to add, get the dual filtration kit if you can. that is what I had on my duramax and plan to add to my 1009.
it has a regular filter and a 5 micron filter. you change the 5 micron every other change.
That was what worked for me.
I am going to use amsoil in my new 6.5 motor. I had real good experience with it in a 2004 duramax. I started using it at 10K miles and when the truck was totaled at 250k miles it never burned a drop of oil.
I never had it tested, I ran every oil change to between 15000 and 17000 miles. The...
Got a free day on Sunday so I was able to get the 6.2 out of the way and stripped down. I now have time to do some painting and clean up before the 6.5 gets here
just clarrifying what your are asking.
you are adding a turbo to the 6.2 and want to know if you should change the heads on your 6.2 to upgraded 6.5 heads
or are you looking to swap your turbo 6.2 with a turbo 6.5
I would think 6.5 heads on a 6.2 turbo would give you way to much fuel and your...
the driver alt charges the front batt at 12volt and the passenger alt charges the back batt at 24volts.
The second alt only doubles the voltage. It does not create more amps. you can add a third alt and get 100 amps at 36 volts and add a third battery.
You must have a 24 volt inverter to get...
to use both alts you will have to get a 24v inverter. you will still only produce 100amps at 12volts. you can get 100 amps at 24 volts with second alt and battery. the system only produces 100 amps max at 12v. no matter how you connect to the batteries.
you just need to put that one in your...
a bad IP can do the same thing so start there. it is your timing source for the motor and your fuel delivery for which it sounds like you have problem with both.
if it starts at all then you normally have some glow plugs working, maybe not all. you also may have a bad controller not letting...
find someone with a boat that has removable tanks and borrow theirs for a weekend and just get the hose connection to the tank (they have a special quick connect) with the hand pump bulb and extend the line to your IP, put an inline filter in it if you want, close to the Ip and possibly a...
started tearing down the 6.2 getting ready to pull it. I already had inner and outer fenders off so I went ahead and pulled the hood and rest of the front end to get it out of the way. I included the pics of my motor with cross member, manifolds and steering linkage. As I have described, there...
I have never had one hang, that is unusual but yes that will kill them.
OP is pretty new so I wanted him to be aware of the resistor and it association with killing glow plugs.
glow plug relay will not kill glow plugs.
The resistor on the firewall goes bad and causes the plugs to go bad.
with ignition on you should have power to glow plug relay and pink solenoid on IP. if you do not then find your power problem first.
Then check both solenoids if they both work...
the glow plug solenoid should be the loud click.
The Ip fuel solenoid you can hear with engine off and glow plug relay not operating.
run a wire from front batt to where the pink wire connects and just touch the terminal with the hot 12 volts with the pink wire removed, ignition off. you can...
the slow start over time is glow plug but the no start then sudden start is your fuel shutoff on the IP. It can stick shut and cause it not to start, eventually it opens but after the glow plugs have already cooled.
I bet your IP is going bad.
turn the ignition on and pull the pink wire on...
