sounds like your starter run on burned up some things in the fuse box or elsewhere. Look at other starter run on threads and it may help, some people had to swap wiring harness, some had to replace fuse box.
starter run on can do some bad things that is why the doghead mod is so important.
on my search for the right year 6.5 parts motor to buy, the 94 does not look like a bad one to get.
It does not have the smog pump so that bracket is not there and I should not need it. The AC compressor is on the passenger side and single alt is on right. I believe the second alt kit mounts...
I have been able to locate a 94 6.5 turbo motor that is bad, not sure what is bad. I can get motor complete for $500
it looks like the only thing picked from it is the AC compressor. This is not a dual alt truck
I need the intake, water pump plate, IP (core),belt system if it is the right...
that one on amazon is what you want. those other places probably won't be able to get the copper and brass one. apparently it is not made anymore and you have to get one out of a warehouse.
if it is good out of the box, it will be in the truck long enough that no one is going to be around to...
It would be nice if you or someone made a dummy spindle you could stick in the end of the axle and secure possibly with a screw through the tube (tube could be fixed later)
Then you would be able to put a wheel on it, pull the front drive shaft and get it home.
Not that it helps you any at...
I believe the green wires are tapped into the orange/red wire that has the loops that stick out of the wire looms. I believe you can take the plastic off and get to where they are tapped. I don't know how they are connected, if mechanical or solder but they could probably be replaced back to the...
I know it is considered more reliable for long term use, I was just thinking about reliable with regards to several days on the trail. An Idler bearing can go at any time even though it is not probable.
I am also somewhat discouraged by the additional time for parts collection. I don't have...
I am going for reliability also, that is another reason I considering not doing the serp belt.
you add additional pulleys and bearings that can fail. And of course any single part failure is a major problem and carrying all the extra parts is more difficult.
I think having a separate belt to...
just updating the thread.
did not finish project, going to be making a change to a 6.5
It will work with custom elbow.
I may be transferring these manifolds to the 6.5 and continue to have the elbow made.
I also have some other plans and this may change.
Did not want to leave this thread...
I am considering changing to a true 24v alt on two batteries and a 12 volt on one battery. I however would like to do the serpentine system with two alts. I figure I could adapt a 24v alt to the mount if I had the mount.
getting all the right pulley's will probably be the biggest challenge...
I did not know they had a chevy serp with twin alts. that sounds like it may be the best option but probably not easy to find unless the parts are still available new.
Do you know the water pump rotation. I believe it changes rotation on the H1 set up, do you know if it changes rotation on...
I am purchasing a 6.5 optimizer long block and I am trying to determine if I want to keep the cucv system of try to convert to a hummer serpentine belt system.
I like the cucv set up in the fact there are no additional tensioners or idler's to fail, each device has ins own belt. It is easy to...
I will be taking mine to a frame shop soon to have it checked out. my issue is so slight that taking measurements wont find it. Yes you can measure to find major sags of a couple inches but the frame can be twisted and racked to one side.
I recommend a good construction laser if you wish to go...
I did not realize vendors got special treatment than the regular paid subscriber.
Note to vendors:
If you want me to buy your stuff on this site, post a price, I will not call you or pm you for it. I am not going to spend that kind of time. I will do without. IF you have the time to post a...
I am seeing a lot of vendors put adds for parts in the classifieds without prices. I thought a price was mandatory. I don't want to have to pm everyone when I want price,
has this rule changed or is it just not being enforced,
Thanks, just trying to bring notice to the issue, you can't post...
you can clearance it just a little but not much before they fall apart. custom machined ones from tom woods cost a lot of money but you can get a couple more degrees when you need it. Your cheapest fix will be to clock the t-case down (which is different from a drop) for as much lift as you...
