The system is hard to re-prime. the fuel pump should be fine. If you can check the site here for info on adding an electric pump. they are cheap and will save your starter when you have to prime the system.
if you have a serpentine belt system your 1009 is not stock so we may not be able to...
I have a tilt from 87 burb, went fine. I had to tap it on at the column end and remove the set screws completely until installed. there is a hole In the column end, one set screw goes thought the hole if I remember correctly.
you have to trim both shaft sections to get the proper collapse...
get an IR thermometer, it is great for checking temps of everything on the truck. They are not expensive.
I keep one on my truck and when I stop I check t-case, wheel hubs, brake rotors radiator, oil pan.
knowing all the regular temps helps to identify problems early. I walk the truck anyway...
sock in tank is probably clogged, have to drop tank to fix it.
put an electric pump on (see forum plenty of info on it) you don't have to use it other than priming and testing your fuel system. Using the starter to prime the system is not good on the starter and running the IP dry is not good...

you need to cut the two shaft sections correctly in order to get the proper fit. It is supposed to collapse on impact so the steering wheel does not kill you.
It is not a direct bolt in part, does have to be fit but can be...
they only last a few years in good condition with no slop,
They last forever with all the slop.
most of the time the steering slop is in the rag joint and not the box
get a non rag joint and you will know the difference.
unless you change the diff gearing, or put really small tires on it. A 1009 does not need an overdrive. It is nice to have one, only if you change the diff gears to match. The 6.2 does not like to be loaded at low rpms (below 1800)
with an overdrive, any version (700r4, gear vendor, 4l80e)...
save yourself time later, and get better steering. purchase a bourgeson steering shaft. replacement. It has all u joints, no rag joint. much better and last longer.
As far as I have researched, you cannot have turbo, two alts and compressor. one must go thus a turbo and AC equals 12volt conversion.. You can't loose hydro pump so you end up choosing two of the three: ac compressor, turbo or second Alt.
There is room under the hood but it would be a long...
That could be a good addition:
I could possibly use one to lower the bar with and then also put one on the bar if I put the tire below the bar, then you could lower it to the ground. That might be cool.
I like the idea of the tire on top of the bar, then your locking lugs would be between the...
I am considering a drop down tire carrier using the shackle mounts. The tire carrier would resemble an end over bar that would be on the front of a rock crawler. I had imagined the tire would lay on top of the bar when lowered which should making it easy to remove.
Bassicly a loop up and...
I am also trying to figure out what the benefit to doing this would be.
I don't think it is necessary for a turbo add.
what it will do is: raise the center of gravity on the truck, shorten the front driveshaft, increase the angle on the front drive shaft, lengthen the rear drive shaft and...
I have posted on here somewhere on how to cut and re-attach the front fenders that should give you the clearance needed and still look factory. search my threads
here are some pics. when cut this way it flares the fender about 1.5 inches also. I have not finished the body work on mine, they...
I am a little lost, I have not read this thread but I do commercial painting - behr marquee is an interior latex, flotral is for smoothing out brush marks in the paint. I have never put interior latex on the exterior of a vehicle.
If you are spraying you should not need flotral at all. It...
I am in if I can get my 1009 on the road by then. And of course if I don't have a job. I am a general contractor and can only play when there is no work.
I am half way through my turbo add. With the work I have still to do It will be close but a big bend trip has been on my list for a long time.
may be just the picture but it does not look like the stock axle, looks like a 10 bolt. If that is the case then you will probably have problems since the axle tube is smaller.
The spring mounts look to close to the diff. also.
If it is a 10 bolt then you may need to look at the 1009 u-bolt...
In your first post the fist diagrams will not get you 24v unless you have 24v batteries. With two 12v. batteries you must have series circuit not parallel to get 24v.
I think it is somewhat truck specific to the best arrangement. two alts, one 24v and one 12v is probably ideal each working...
no that is a 24v alt. you need a 12. The way the cucv system works it it produces 12v in the first alt and then puts that into the second where it comes out at 24. Alternators are the same as batteries. you put them in series and they double the voltage.
however to put two alternators in...
Many years ago (1991 and 92) I worked a few days in the juvenile facility in giddings. I worked for national guardian and we had the contract for the fire system monitoring and some of the card readers. I had to do some work in what they told me was the worst area. It was really strange...
I talked to him yesterday and he has changed in the past year. He joined a national auto body franchise company and now he only does new car part replacements and paint. does not do old cars anymore, not enough money in it. He knows some places that do but he has not sent me the info yet.
I...
