Rear thumping turned into a chain rattling noise

So previously I had a thumping noise coming from the back left of my m998 only when I was accelerating. I check the geared hub and changed its oil and checked the gears and nothing wrong. Couple weeks later I pull it out of the garage after a few days of no driving, and I take it out and now...

    Transmission Questions, Lots of them

Could I buy one of them off of you? How much, and are you selling on the auction site?

    Transmission Questions, Lots of them

Wasn't the 242 tc made for the 4l80 and thus to have the 242 on the 3l80 require an adapter? If so that would mean that there is already an adapter on there on mine and all I would need to do to connect it to the 4l80 is to remove that adapter plate?

    Transmission Questions, Lots of them

Well it's an either or, right? Either I use the military tcm or a civilian one. I much rather use the military one, keeping the truck closer to the military side of things.

    Transmission Questions, Lots of them

I already have the military TCM on order, got it for about 300. Does that part number you reference include all the wiring needed for the 4l80 swap?

    Transmission Questions, Lots of them

Yes, Don't have the money for both the transmission and a 6.5l.

    Transmission Questions, Lots of them

I've gone over the TM's and all the forum posts about the 4l80 swaps, and they simply aren't answering my questions. So first, my vehicle is a m998a1 with the rear caliper parking break and the 242 transfer case along with the 6.2 na, 3 speed. I know that this changes some things so I'd like...

Hummer Engine and Transmission in a Humvee?

Well I am getting a package deal. I get both a 4l80 and a 6.5 turbo for the price of the transmission alone. So I'd like to make some use of the engine as I currently have a 6.2 in my humvee. How much are the turbo take outs? I'm low on money so extra purchases do not work for me.

Hummer Engine and Transmission in a Humvee?

Luckily I already have the 242. So what you're saying is that the big list of stuff you said won't fit? I assume that the military version of those items can simply go in place of their civil counterparts? What I'm hearing is that all that will get installed is just the engine and none of...

Hummer Engine and Transmission in a Humvee?

Well for the engine I have the dual voltage regulator so replacing the components I shouldnt need to do. As for the tc, All I know is that the civi one has the cooling loop only around one part of the transfer case, versus the military which surrounds the whole thing. I believe the bolting...

Hummer Engine and Transmission in a Humvee?

Can you put a hummer h1's 6.5td and 4l80e into a humvee? I know that some other components are different between the hummer and humvee, like the transfer case, but would a hummers engine and tranny bolt right into a humvee? I already have the 242 tc

M1114 Slantback Roof Brace Backwards Compatibility

Is it the mounting points for the turret support ring? Or is the bolting points? It looks like my turret ring support would fit?

M1114 Slantback Roof Brace Backwards Compatibility

I've been looking around for a the tube that mounts to the sponsons that supports the ring for a slantback, but I can't find any of the old style tubes, does anyone know if the m1114 tube will work in a slantback upgrade for a m998? Or does anyone know where to get the older tube? Older style...

    A/c Compressor V-belt Pulley

So I'm working on an air conditioning upgrade using the standard compressor mounting location and the condenser mounted on the radiators, but for the life of me I cannot find a compressor pulley that is for a v belt config. The compressor I bought had a serpentine pulley, but I rather not...

242 Transfer case in all A1 and A2s?

Yeah, I have a 242. On a unrelated note, do you know if the 4l80 shifter will plug into a 3l80 6.2 hmmwv? I ask because I could install the shifter then later its one less thing to install.

242 Transfer case in all A1 and A2s?

I saw on a 3l80 to 4l80e swap writeup and someone said that only A0s have the 218 transfer case. The document also said that if you have a A1 or A2 humvee you already have the 218. I'm probably going to do the swap eventually but right now I'm just compiling a parts list and their prices, so...

    Slantback Hardware

Yeah I've seen those parts on various sites for very high prices. I mostly get the main components from scrap yards, and surprisingly they are in good condition. All the hardware wasn't there so I am slowly compiling a list of all the parts and their NSNs that I need.

    Slantback Hardware

I was looking through the Part TMs, specifically the slantback portion since I am trying to put together a slantback and wanted to know what hardware to try and find. First thing I see is the million thousand little peices that are needed, and then I am seeing things that aren't bolts, which...

    RPM Red line for 6.2L

You can look at my avatar. I only have the helmet top on it currently. It's light and is decently slick. I did recently put on a 7' whip.

    RPM Red line for 6.2L

Surprisingly enough, I was getting around 14 mpg. As soon as I calculated that, I started driving at 60 all the time.
