I did my best impersonation of an intervention cardiologist yesterday, successfully cleaning out the DOT3-DOT5 reaction product clog in the left front brake hose. 1/16" ER-308L and 0.023" ER-70-S6 filler wires successfully breached the clog, then brake parts cleaner and denatured alcohol for a...
How would you know how hawk tastes? I would think it is a cross between spotted owl and golden cheeked warbler .
I left my Motive pressure bleeder in the shop in case I cannot make it on Thursday. But all signs are good I will be there. Just hope the rest of the brake hoses are open...
Ok, new bolts. But still you could be off on clamping load since friction comes into play at higher torque values and friction makes bolt load all crazy. The thing the gasket needs is clamping force, the sum of all bolt loads. And they should be uniform in load.
In in really sensitive...
I would not reuse such head bolts. Why? They have yielded due to that 1/4 turn past 50 foot pounds. The relationship between torque and clamping force is only accurate and reproducible for low torque values. Hence the two step process with a torque wrench, the 1/4 turn now is far more...
I replaced the drive end bearing on an alternator, a few months later the rotor burned out, probably from bad battery terminals. the 1009 had the group 31s from Interstate that have screw posts, I have since then swapped out the failing terminals with side post terminals that are far better...
You CAN connect to the back battery as long as you use a dedicated negative wire from the back battery negative post. This would make the negative wire 12 volts to ground. Clear as mud?
I added a 12 volt outlet in my truck off the back battery using a two lead outlet. It works fine as the...
Bingo. Trashy fuel causes them to leak causing slow pressure drop which reduces fuel flow. At 1800 rpm, there isn't enough time to fill the plunger with low priming pressure.
also check fuel pump strainers, they clog easily and are a prime bad fuel bottleneck. If you tank looks like a...
Yes, upper King pin bushings and springs. The reason for springs is to give some play while still maintaining even lower bearing preload with a cylindrical bushing...ok, it is conical but same ideal. Now if it were a ball joint, there would be no need for springs and bushings but who knows the...
So you found the fittings? Because compression fittings on brake lines is a general no-no but those are night and day different from standard compression types. Guess it makes for easier field service. Still confusing.
Doubt you you can find the swivel fittings to the hub but they might be...
Cast iron is brittle, gray cast iron more than others. The excess carbon in solution during the casting process precipitates out as flakes of graphite which form inclusions that form stress risers. Malleable iron is gray iron that has been heat treated to turn the graphite flakes into spheres...
For six hours of wrench spinning, I was bartered a replacement vise. Bolts right up to the existing holes so it will do as a temp replacement. Generic Chinese made, probably older Harbor Freight.
all functions work, the rotate with swivel might be a bit useful. Still going to repair the...
May not be the transducer but rather the meter. The one way to test the system is to disconnect the input to the transducer (120 VAC) and using an old power cord, feed the transducer 120 VAC utility power, looking at the meter. With generator off, naturally. It should read 60Hz.
Next, test...
How precise are these cruise controls? Because this might be an interesting add on for the M1031 SECM. It already has a magnetic pick up unit for the generator governor on the power take off. It would be cheaper than the replacement digital governor.
That's mean. When warmer weather returns, I will see how the 4000 psi pressure washer attacks paint. The yellow will be removed one way or another.
But the real issue is brake hoses.
Not going to work with either. 200 Hz at 625 RPM would equate to 1152 Hz at 3600 RPM or roughly 69000 pulses per minute. I would recommend another tach pickup method. Ignition coil primary hookup would result in 6 or 8 cycles per two engine revolutions (depending on cylinder count) so at 3600...
The alternators have tach output but it is a pretty high frequency AC output, don't know how it could be used. Left alternator has a brown wire which goes to the tach buffer module for the STE-ICE diagnostic port. I guess I could test it out on mine
just back, 320 Hz at fast (cold)...
You could tee into the vacuum pump line at the back of the engine to use vacuum operated cruise control. Unlike a gasoline engine, you shouldn't need a vacuum reservoir since vacuum volume flow rate is proportional to engine speed. In a gasoline engine, vacuum level is inversely proportional...
