    Non-turbo Deuce...good or bad??

Normally aspirated Deuces often start a little easier in cold weather because there's it doesn't have the cold turbo acting as an exhaust obstruction. They crank a little faster. Two buddies and I have a line-up of Deuces in one of the steel buildings here on the farm during the winter. When I...

    Packard connectors or shrink-tube splices?

The simple answer is; it depends...... If I'm likely to have to disconnect the connection for, say, a trailer inter-vehicle cable, then it gets the GI connector. If I'm splicing mid-run or making up a harness or custom run, nothing is as secure or as watertight as a soldered Western Union...

    Picitinny inspection help wanted

On Thursday, I bought an M35A2 W/W without a preview. It has the winch, singles, hardtop, clean interior yadda, yadda, yadda and at $1647 I won't cry if it needs trailered or towed. Is anyone going to Picitinny in the next few weeks that could look at the wee beastie and let me know if it...

    M1008 tranny troubleshooting help needed

I'm working my way through the -20 and -34 manuals and the archived threads trying to get through troubleshooting an M1008 tranny. I picked the truck up from Lakehurst last week and it wouldn't shift into either reverse or third. First and second act correctly and shift at what seems to be the...

    Oh Krap!

You can probably get ether bottles at any place that carries truck parts and most tractor dealers, even in Louisiana. I run our dueces once or twice a month during the winter. Last winter rarely got far below zero and I don't think I needed the flame heaters at all. The turbos need a little...

towing a deuce with a tow bar

The biggest safety limitation is the inability of one deuce's brakes to stop two trucks. There was a recent post on slaving the towed vehicle's brakes by hooking them to the towing vehicle. Titled "Airpack modification for towing"...

GL's post auction prices still wrong

Hello Robyn The post auction prices still don't bear any resemblance to fact and the "closed watchlist" feature is still down. Last night we bought 2 trucks for about $1,650 each and the post auction prices show as $888 and $945. Both were well over those amounts at the auction's scheduled...

    Hmmm,something fishy here

Eric, If my brain cell recalls correctly, that one also has a fair amount of the BII in the toolbox. I'm not near my notes right now. Ed K. just bought a winch truck in that same sale last night. I hope they keep sending stuff to Drum. It's 110 miles closer than the next closest place...

    Picatinny inspection help, please

Is anyone able to inspect a truck at Picatinny, in the next couple of weeks? I just bought an M35A2 w/w. It's got a hard top and singles and the price was low enough ($1,643) that I grabbed it without an inspection. I'm looking to find out if there's a reasonable chance of driving it out or...

    Deuce trailers

As far as price, I bought 3 M105A2s last month out of Ft Drum. All had fresh NATO camo paint, new or nearly new tires, racks and bows. 2 have canvas folded in the beds which I didn't open. I paid $150, $190 and $205. Also bought 2 M103A3 generator trailers in the same condition for $110 for...

    Hmmm,something fishy here

Eric, If that's the truck I think it is, Ed and I looked at that truck. From my notes, it ran, seemed to have a relatively recent re-power job, had pretty good rubber, turbo and an air shift front end. I think you've got a great candidate for a bob-job! Happy motoring..

Well.....I just bought a Deuce....tell me what you think.

Good looking truck. The pallet is there to keep an oil absorbent pad off the ground. Water will go through the pads, the oil stays and, since it's on the pallet, it won't wick into the ground. GL does this at some other locations, too. Usually the pad is weighted with a rock.

NEED deuce wheels/tires in NEW(ER) condition

One big advantage of them being mounted is that you can see any checking in the sidewalls. An unmounted tire can look like new until it's aired up and shows deep checking. Lance

    Smyrna,TN trucks

RE: Re: Smyrna,TN trucks Sometiimes you DO steal 'em. Last night we bought an M35A2 with winch, heater, racks, air shift and new paint, at Drum, for less than $1700 and one at Picatinny with a winch, heater, air shift, racks, hardtop and singles for $1643! We didn't inspect the one at...

GL pics and spotting an air shift axle

A lot of the GL pictures either don't show the lower dash clearly or are very dark. is there a way to tell from engine compartment pics if a truck should have an air shift axle? I'm nowhere near a parts manual or a truck to look at. Lance

    anybody need duster parts

I'll be seeing Jack G. this afternoon as the Coast-to Coast Convoy passed through. He has an M41A1. I'll pass this on to him. Lance

    Roboimpact question

I've never noticed a problem or issue whether the engine is running or not but have never checked it out either. As already stated they're not intended to break loose or final torque lugnuts. I use a Swench to beak loose the lugs, then the Robotool to do the rest. For roadside stuff (which...

Can inspect stuff at Ft Drum

In the next 2-3 weeks I'll be making 3 trips to Fort Drum to pick up a bunch of items. If anyone needs and inspection done; please speak up! If the time window between when I'm going and when you need the inspection fits, I'll be glad to help. Until the EUC and invoice silliness is done I...
