Congratulations on owning a CUCV truck!
With that being said, I agree. Put down all of your tools, do not touch the truck, disconnect the batteries. You NEED to read everything at the top of the forum for about two weeks while making a list of maintenance/repair items. When you are ready...
Holy $9000 asking price...better be showroom original (not restored) condition. Looking to see what others say but I would assume $5-6k is a good asking price for a very good condition M1009. The only reason I would spend more is if it was an M1010 or M1031 with a full functioning equipment.
I would gladly buy a vehicle sight unseen over the internet having just looked at undercarriage photos than buy one locally with rust issues. For the price of a HWWMV 6.2 or TH400, I'd replace the entire driveline before wanting to cut out rusty floorpans and tailgates. I will never buy another...
Does your filter assembly have a bleed screw?
You shouldn't have to take your injector lines off to do this. If you remove the pink wire from the IP, none of those lines will have air infiltration. Basically just open the filter assembly bleed, activate the lift pump till it's bled, close the...
Everything mechanical can be fixed for relatively cheap money. Another vote for rust condition. I don't care how much time and money you throw at it...you'll hate it every step of the way and never get ahead...
Sorry to hear about your damage. You will have to modify a standard CUCV harness if you intend on making your generator function like it did originally. If you decide to bypass all of the safety switches...it won't take much.
Good luck with your build!
Why not just run a pair of batteries in series in the trailer? Use the isolator to tie it to the CUCV so they charge when the truck is running and isolate when turned off. Then buy a 24v inverter and wire the trailer with 120v off the inverter. Any DC accessories like lighting would easily be...
Lots of good info on this thread about high output alternator options and radiator part numbers with prices. Hope my post shows up in a search when I need one of these :)
Not sure if the TH400 has a band adjustment but double check. Everyone mentioned all the key points. Don't smoke your trans by waiting it out. Sounds like it is salvageable.
Who cares if it's genuine. You gave a clean looking Blazer with the 24v system and a winch...rock on!
Curious if it has a TH400 and 3.08 gears like an M1009. If it's civi, shouldn't it come with a 700R4?
Do me a favor, every time you have an old LR coming at you, just hug the middle line and...
Pay the money an have someone with a computerized alignment machine run the numbers and get a printout. Even if you have no issues, it is a great baseline for the $50 it will cost.
Also try rotating the tires side to side and see if it changes. Everyone on here has pointed out great items to...
Very cool rig! Your steering wheel makes me puke though...
Does anyone get trouble by local police for having a military painted rig with lettering that states "Military Police" or similar placards? Seems like local cops would hate that.
I don't know how often you guys are discharging batteries but it does not take considerable labor to remove the battery terminals and individually charge the two batteries like Doghead recommended. It is the best method...PERIOD.
Actually, let me rephrase: The best method is flipping the...
