Drip drip of diesel from bell housing, IP?

I agree, you can find many good locals and ebay pumps...DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! Plenty of good and bad experiences on here. Prices have nothing to do with it. My price was smack dab in the middle which yielded me a factory reman'd pump from an authorized dealer. You will find many places listed on...

Drip drip of diesel from bell housing, IP?

It all depends on what you are looking to do. I have a decent amount of spare time, very good mechanical abilities, and lots of tools with a heated indoor workspace. I opted to get a reman'd unit. It boils down to it being a central part of the fuel system and worth every penny to have a...

Flexible fuel line sizes and part numbers info

I'm getting ready to replace my mechanical fuel pump. I eventually would like to do dual tanks with electric pumps inspired by Piracy but don't want to dive into that yet. So I am going to change out the $25 mechanical pump and replace all my rubber lines other than the ones in the engine bay. I...

Drip drip of diesel from bell housing, IP?

Leaky IP, probably a throttle shaft seal or hoses. Mine ran great but leaked from old age...common problems with IP's and human beings. Just get the most up to date DB2 pump available. Will set you back between $500-700 depending on where you live. If this is the problem...

    M1028 front axle additive

Pretty much all GL5 gear oil will be rated for limited slip diffs. Of course I would not rely on that working good if you buy cheapo oil. The safest bet is swing by a Ford dealer and pick some up if your parts store doesn't stock a seperate additive. The only reason I say Ford is that most of...

    Considering first CUCV purchase

I agree...walk away. The starter will set you back $150 off fleabay or a surplus supplier. You have a bit of work ahead of you to change out that flexplate. All of that on something which could be seized up anyways or knocking. That is a parts rig worth a couple of hundred bucks. Saw an M1009...

    1999 CUCV II Tahoe

I know that the injector conversion exists but so far no one wants to pony up the few extra bucks to upgrade. Plus NAPA sells the spider assembly dirt cheap now so most go the low buck path. Never like the CPI design. I try to get all genuine AC Delco from RockAuto but you probably know the...

    glow plug resistor by-pass mod

After replacing your GP's as soon as you get a CUCV with AC60's. If you don't, it is the equivalent of trying to find an air leak on a dry rotted tire.

No more Wellman ("Swellman") glow plugs in my CUCVs...

I had really good luck getting my engine nice and toasty, then immediately trying to remove the GP's. I had quite a few swollen ones. Once I unthreaded them, I would squirt some penetrating oil down there. Follow this up with twisting and prying gently outward with locking pliers. (I wanted to...

    glow plug resistor by-pass mod

You don't have to be rolling in money...it is a cost avoidance. Unless you own a tow truck or trailer, it will leave you stranded and instead of doing maintenance you are giving your money to AAA or some other tow service. Just for the record, I had to do my IP also due to fuel leaks. Wanna...

    glow plug resistor by-pass mod

I wouldn't spend time doing any of that. I would immediately go straight to new plugs, bypass mod, and then a functional check. I'm not sure why anyone would bother trying to use the GP's with questionable history when they more than likely are junk to begin with. I have yet to buy a car from...

M1031 electrical panel install for engine heaters and aux accessories

Good to know, thanks for the heads up. Your profile photo shows some type of grille cover on your brush guard. Any info on that? I should really fabricate something for mine...didn't know if that is a surplus item or custom.

M1031 electrical panel install for engine heaters and aux accessories

So after installing an engine block and oil pan heater, I started to accumulate plugs hanging from the front of my bumper. I also wanted to get a battery charger on board. All of these plus I would like to manually switch certain ones on and off, I needed some type of central control panel. Plus...

Need Help figuring out what devices are

Congrats on the CUCV purchase...post up more photos of your new truck! You should probably pick either the battery tender or solargizer and ditch the other. You really only need one of them. That solargizer install looks like someone did it at night with a pocket knife in the rain. I would get...

Injection pump swap and timing question

Were the injection lines loose or tight? If tight, they may have been giving you a hard time if not on perfect.

    glow plug resistor by-pass mod

Resistor shouldn't draw on batteries unless the GP Solenoid is the incorrect one which is supposed to be isolated from ground. The other thing is search, it is been beat to death.
