There are some differences, the original 16-20 (16/70-20) are bias ply, not radial, for one thing. The Michelins are heavier and not as wide, they don't mount as easily on the 12-inch wheels (which is wider than recommended).
The originals are made to operate at lower pressure (30 psi highway...
According to the information I have, the civilian TX200 transmissions were adapted for the military and used in vehicles like the M113, however the -6 variant was designed for the M656/xm757/xm791 trucks alone, with whatever the modifications may have been.
These vehicles were not designed for...
About 30 inches long.
This was exclusively used on the 8x8 trucks listed by Stuart above and would be hard to find. The injection pump governor also had a cam to keep engine from overrevving during the shifting. The -2 engine and the -6 transmission work well together.
How do you intend to use it?
Chris, read the spec on the CO meter you get, most designed for home use, will need a lot of time before setting off the alarm, the equivalent of a person getting a long enough dose to cause harm, perhaps 45 minutes or so.
I'd opt for an actual CO meter, which will give you an instant response...
Over the last few years, I have spent a lot of time on the fuel burning heater and have come to consider it fairly safe to operate, in particular with diesel fuel.
My 8x8 was never equipped with any other type of heater, so there wasn't much of a decision here.
Any malfunction that I have run...
Even with the FDC bypassed, you'll need the stop plate.
Let me know if you need a replacement, I think I have one somewhere...
The EGT should not exceed 1,200°F.
Sangamon, some pointers about driving on hard dry surfaces....
The bogies are coupled without a differential, so you should think about removing the drive shafts circled in the image below, before driving on hard pavement, especially the front, since the front wheels turn on different circles...
Sangamon, there is a fairly safe bet that you'll not find a hard top for your baby for a long time, you are lucky to have the original vinyl soft top. I made my own top after a year long search and finding only the frame for it.
Many parts were specifically designed for this vehicle alone...
USMC, you may want to start a new thread for this or do a search, however, there are several ways to stop the leak if you aren't going to keep the heater functional. Remove the lines and plug the ends with proper fittings, for example.
FWIW, the primary fuel filter is a 40 micron element and...
It's rated and designed for 50 amps, uses #8 wire with shield (=GND), which connects directly to the battery terminals (+ and -).
It's used with radios, intercoms and combinations of both and provides surge, overload and reverse polarity protection.
Use the MX7777 suppressor for all your supplies, it's wired to the battery and provides the protection you need for all your accessories. Problem may be finding the cables, but they are out there.
Image below shows location of the unit (disregard the mess around it).
The Stewart Warner heater uses a series of resistors with positive temperature coefficients to regulate the voltage to the igniter and fan motor. Higher voltage results in higher temperature (higher power dissipation) and higher voltage drop. The Benmar heater, which I'm "playing" with on the...
Based on my research, with some input from David Doyle:
MAN patented a combustion process in the 1950's, which involves a specially designed piston cup to better distribute the vaporized fuel within the chamber for a slower burn process. This promotes a more complete combustion of the fuel...
Right, I did in fact install a thermocouple probe in the intake manifold near the #6 cylinder as far away as possible from the turbo compressor discharge. IIRC, with a boost of about 10 psi, the temp at the compressor was about 225°F and it dropped to about 210 degrees after passing through the...
Chris, JB Steel Weld epoxy did the job.

(I prefer to separate my project into separate threads and get better response that way for specific questions)
Will, with my limited budget, I narrow my 757 projects down. The...
I'll say it again, a heck of a project Chris! I have been meaning to get pictures of the parts M925 down in Mt Airy, but then again, you don't appear to have much trouble finding what you need.
The truck in Mt Airy is in pieces, with that big engine on the ground, PTO sitting on top of the...
