Where should I start ? My deuce has a miss at 1200-1600rpm

Filters clogged usually shows as power loss, especially under load. I'd probably start at the injectors and work my way backwards. Take injectors out and check for obvious damage/crud buildup. I have a local diesel injection shop that ultra-sonic cleans and balances a set of injectors for...

    Source for tire chains

If you want a set for cheap insurance to ''have them if needed'', and otherwise truck them around in the bag most of the time, then, by all means, grab a set of military chains that fit your 11.00-20 (?) tires. They are ladder-style chains, rugged, and will get you out of most a pinch. If you...

    Headlight intermittently goes out

Maybe it helps: My passenger LED headlight will not come on with low beam from a cold start. It comes on fine and in full on high beam. If I drive in high beam for about 10 minutes or so and then switch to low it works from then on. I am sure it is a headlight-internal issue, not a truck...

    Noise in drive-train

Seems as if you eliminated the first suggestions already. My two cents would be to include the transfer case in the rule-out (disconnect shaft or shafts if you do not have front lockouts) and check the u-joints next.

GROTE LED taillight only half works

    Bummer - but thanks!

GROTE LED taillight only half works

I am unlucky with surplus LED lighting. My truck has an iffy LED headlight. My Grote taillights worked fine for a year, but now I notice that one taillight no longer illuminates the bottom 1 1/2 rows of LEDs. Does this sound familiar to anybody? Ideas for a fix (other than trashing and replacing)?

Bringing the Deuce back to 100%

I like the choice of lights but I am not as brave as you when it comes to the mounting location. I would be worried about what the winch cable is going to do to them.

    Keeping air in tires

You need to buy 395's at COSTCO. They have a road hazard warranty. Just drive to the nearest COSTCO if you have a nail in your tire.

Oil and gear lube leak observation

I need to thank whoever posted the old adage that, if you feel your Deuce is leaking too much, put a load of gravel into the bed and drive it hard for an hour. Then watch her stop leaking. I remember reading this, smiling and moving on. My truck had been sitting for three years when I picked...

    She is a leaky one

I stared at the picture of the engine compartment for over two minutes, expecting a visual of class 3 oil leakage coming from all orifices before I caught on that the leak was the puny little drippy copper line compression fitting. Your truck is practically dry compared to some I saw!

    Sketchy clutch

Did you check and adjust pedal free play?

    shift pattern?

Usually I start in low shift 2-5 then shift to high and go 4-5. Often I stay in high and shift 1-5.

    Mix N Match Batteries?

My personal experience (disclaimer: your mileage may vary, batteries are not included, consumer to remove this sticker) has been that in multi-battery starting applications the weaker batteries inevitably drag the other ones down. Yes, same CCA *should* work fine, but I never had any luck with...

    Deuce at airport parking

It's one of the reasons I did not put the toop seats, bows and cover back on. The Deuce looks a lot more menacing and substantial with the high sides and the cover. With the low sides and open it is as low-key as you can get with a tandem axle truck.

    Deuce ate a valve seat

Ahhhh...that is some needed background. You have the decisive home advantage right there! I would lean towards the "replace engine" route simply because of the time and labour involved if all you have is you as "soldier A" to do the rebuild. For your situation, the repair makes complete sense.

    Deuce at airport parking

Daily driver in the shop, wife away with her SUV - leaves my Deuce to drive an hour to the airport for a business trip! The airport parking attendants were, ahem, surprised. No problem though - their lot has a gravel area in the back and I had ample room to park. I had called ahead to ensure...

Deuce whines but not a wistler

Replace with original pump - you may find someone here on the site or turn to one of the usual vendors. They are high quality and priced accordingly. Alternatively, install a 24V external lift pump (these are not submersible) - relatively cheap. Another alternative are other 24V submersible...

One Piece at a Time...My Deuce Project

What's that flat stock lever for? Winch? I thought at first REB kit for front axle, but I see an air switch under the dash.

One Piece at a Time...My Deuce Project

If the turn signals still do not work after that, move on to the turn signal switch. The switch grounds to the steering column, so check that the bracket on the assembly or the worm clamp that holds everything to the steering column has a blank contact surface (you see what I mean when you look...
