I don't believe it would be a worthwhile project. (as) set up properly the deuce is more than adequate for the job it was/is intended to do. I know I would not wish for my M45 fire truck to go any faster. (it is already the fastest all round in every respect) with no smoke, In our "fleet".
mkcoen:"You have to love people in this hobby. For every story of someone getting shafted by unscrupulous individuals (Daryl B for example) you hear 10 stories like this one."
I bought my M151 Mutt from Sweden, it arrived last week. The chap I bought it from forgot to include the spare...
Welcome to the craze! I always wondered what the difference in performance would be with the Cummins engined motor. Someone over here keeps trying to swap an 813 for one of mine, I don't like the idea of the exchange though. Be nice to see pictures when you do get it. (oh, and that bed, just...
Yes that will be a tough task. But, sand it with power sanders, flat with rough grade paper and squirt away. You will be pleased with the result for sure. (I don't do "pristine" on army truck paint!) I just like that "Used" look. don't forget the obligatory pictures.
Bunks we have a plenty!..all (and any) visitors most welcome(ed). We have friends from the past war and peace shows that visit for.."weekend" barbeques! ( N' Beers) from Poland, Holland, Germany, Hopefully we are to have a visit from two steel soldiers members this year. Good times.
(phew!)And I was balking at getting the jeep out to go get fuel from the village 3 miles away. Never again. Good luck with both your trips and enjoy your eventual settlements.
Welcome. And do try to carry a thorough inspection of the "things" that make it run as well. Wires plug leads, carburetor lines etc. Inspect all you can while taking pictures, post here and let some of the wiser members help you with suggestions. Good luck in your task, It will be rewarding and...
Had ether on two of the trucks, went to flame heaters. softer start I thought. All my trucks start without aid. In winter a short press of the heater switch is quite enough. Actually I quite like the "bump" as they ignite. just my 1/2 penne'th
I appoligize if this was incorrect information out of "text" to your post, I had replied to another post about "which oils are the equivalent to use in our trucks other than listed on the dash plates" I replied and got the message "no correct link contact supervisor" (??) I had to log in...
Research grades and specifications, and make your own choice of supplier. They are all much of a muchness. In my trucks rotella goes in the engines, (of everything including cars and jeeps). oep220 goes in the axles gearboxes and transfers. (u.s.= go)
My last move of about 140 miles required my nephew and 4 friends to ferry trucks and trailers. I think I posted about that trip a while ago as it turned out to be the the trip from..h... with the zill breaking down every 5 miles or so and running about 5-7 mph when going! Was I glad to see the...
Wow that makes me feel quite guilty. I threw out a Goat cylinder head for scrap 3 years ago. And a pile of other rusty stuff. That head was so heavy I could hardly lift it.
Actually the Nois/ES! came from the wrecker (shoeme 17 tone) carson (7 tones) Fire chief horn: Fire truck, Siren, whelen, Fire chief horn also: Gamma goat Engine and whelen! And of course all those screaming "C" turbos. Everyone was well impressed and waved and cheered encouragement to us...
I am totally taken aback by your enthusiasm to do this project. Well done you! I shall be following your progress at all stages of the project. Awesome.
I had chosen the caboose the engine and rolling stock as a great backdrop for our display. Everything on his site "rolls" and or works, other than the huge amount of stock he had in workshops and barns. Truly an amazing collection, rail laying and construction work over some 30 years. The...
