I really like this M353 trailer chassis too. It's really well-configured for a lot of different things. The roofline of that uhaul box is 2ft lower than the roofline of my M109, so I can load a boat or whatever on top of it and still be under 13ft tall.
I bought an old water-damaged camper too! Bought it for $200, pulled all the appliances and paid $40 to dump the carcass. I've actually already got plans to travel to CO, so I'll try to remember to hit you up.
If you want to add a walkway, I just found out that a 10ft Uhaul boarding ramp fits PERFECTLY between/above the framerails on an M109. Just finished installing one on mine.
If you guys are looking for a self-contained electrical AC system (like a roof-top RV setup), take a look at the 24V units that have become popular with the truckers over the last few years (mostly because of the anti-idling laws is what I've heard). They're supposed to be a lot better than the...
If you guys are looking for creative compressor solutions, Red Dot makes a few hydraulic compressors. I think I'm going to use a traditional engine-driven compressor. Haven't given much though to that yet though.
Because anything I put in front of the radiator is going to affect the radiator's ability to cool the engine, and if I put anything in front of the radiator it's probably going to be an intercooler...
I'm installing AC in mah deuce too. I just ordered this AC unit, which is going to be mounted in my M109 box, and this condenser, which is going to be mounted on a roof rack over the cab. I haven't thought about the compressor yet, but will to tackle that sometime within the next few months.
I think this is the route I'm going to end up going, but I'm not sure whether I want to run those 11.00R20's singled in the rear. I don't like the narrower track. Seems like it wouldn't be quite as stable as a wider truck and it looks a little goofy. Does anyone run single those by just removing...
Here's a pic of the trailer right after I set the uhaul box on top of it. It's at full-lock, and the cabover just barely clears the back of the M109 box, but I'm going to cut a foot off the front of it and re-rivet the front cap back on. All in all, I'm really happy with the way it's turning...
I'm getting more and more interested in these LDS engines. My truck and trailer combo will weigh-in at over 20,000lbs (empty) and my LDT engine runs strong, but... it's tempting. Can the LDT engines be rebuilt to LDS-spec, or is it actually a similar-but-entirely-different engine altogether...
Racecars are built to excel at whatever type of racing they were built for. I'm building an off-road oriented motorhome and it's not in my nature to do anything half-assed. What you're suggesting is just a BAD IDEA. Sorry dude, not gonna happen.
