I'd take it to a local rebuilder and see what they can come up with. The bearing is a no brainer, just go by the #. When you get a seal #, please share it with all of us!
NO NO NO, that is the best way to hurt something very bad. Try and use a breaker bar on the crank and rotate reverse rotation. That will tell you if it is hydraulic locked or if there is a deeper engine issue. Quick and easy.
Well, I guess barring a vented casting or a fuel pump that flat quit, it would be fairly to patch on the road and get it home. Other big issues is where the SS family comes in. We do kinda have a list of who is where, the Member locator map. A bit hard to get to if you are new here and maybe...
Jason is correct, while you are waiting for a belt, you should get a new seal ring. You have a better than 50% chance it will leak. You might be diong the job over again. If you do go get a new one, make sure you coat it with anti seize and torque the capscrews the way the TM says to.
The RES port is the sensing line from the system. When the system reaches 125 or so, the governor sends a signal to the unloader in the compressor to stop pumping through the center port, the one in between the two unthreaded through holes. Sounds like you might have things reversed. The 1/4 in...
The light is in the back and I think it still works. I'll most likely need to delve into the brakes 'cause when we went to move it, the pedal was all the way down...before anyone got in it to move it. I have found that drums on older stuff does indeed need to be marked so it goes back into the...
The Museum has a Mule we use to transport parts, tools or whatever around the grounds. It sure is a handy toy to have when you gotta go and heft a large part from the back 40 to the shop. Well, the last few times we used it, it has been puffing black smoke at idle and not running as good as it...
Why did you replace the original one? When you installed the new D2, you plugged all the unused holes except the vent, correct? Did you plumb the sensing line...the one comming from the tank or system pressure to the "RES" port and the center port..the one between the mount holes..to the air...
Some progress on the meat wagon. We decided to put another hood on it 'cause there was a dent in the middle from someone standing on it. It will go out for blasting on Monday. All the body stuff is being performed by students learning trades. Most of the kids are very nice and they listen to...
see if this will work,

Both are 1 inch ID. Make sure you get a hose made for oil and heat. If you get the incorrect hose and it swells inside, it can stop the oil drain from the turbo and then the oil is pushed out the rear or into the compressor side...a bad thing no matter which way it goes. If the hose swells on...
You don't NEED to take the radiator out. You can loosen the pulley and get the belt loose enough to take the compressor off of the base. I agree, DO NOT use silicone. Get the proper gasket from Antelope Valley or Memphis. Glad to see you got your beast running. Hole told me you PM'd him.
You mean "clean up tools? There has been a few tools show up at these events. Like I posted earlier, I should have the maps of the places that are in need of "cleaning" today...haven't checked the mail yet. There should be a few members from the SCMVCC there as well as us from SS.
Thay would be sweet to have a DUKW there! We just usually pitch a tent and hang out for a day or two, some easy wheelin, desert clean up, BS, eat and suck up some beverages. It's just an excuse to use the trucks and hang with friensds.
