TD is correct. Gl-5 should not be used with yellow-metal, which means it should never be used in the transmission or transfer case of a deuce. GL-5 has additives that are very corrosive toyellow metal. I use GL-1 in my transmission and transfer case as it has zero corrosive properties.
I don't know about the laws in California, but in most states a Class C license is all that is required to drive a deuce because it does not have air brakes and is under the weight limit. My total annual tag and taxes on my 98 A3 are $43.00. To me it makes no sense to register the truck other...
All M35A3s built after VIN # 504923 came from AM General with composite hoods. This occurred in 1998. Does your truck have a composite hood or a steel hood?
I determined that my A3 was a 1998 by the tags. I looked at all three axle tags, the winch hydraulic tag, and several other tags. My tags were all Nov 97 - Feb 98 and mostly in the Jan - Feb 98. I then put 1998 on the SF97 application so mine is now titled as a 98.
As Carl said above, when you start, the solenoid actuates. Sometimes they will stick. Turn the power on, and then physically pull down on the solenoid. Mine used to stick periodically when I first got it, but I cleaned the linkage with carb cleaner and then lubricated it, which eliminated the...
I live on a gravel / dirt road that is mostly large rocks and potholes. Everytime I drive down the 1/2 mile road, I can feel the cab flexing and screeching, even when I keep it down to 2 - 3 mph.
I'm leaving Hiawassee at 0700. I'm leaving early because my A3 only goes 45 and I'm staying off the interstate. The 57th Fighter Group is 104 miles from where I live.
Ditto! Even with the plate installed in the cab, there is a lot of flexing of the cab with that heavy ring up there. You will tear up your truck for sure if you don't have the plate installed.
I've heard that the low silicate antifreeze is better, but I run plain old ethylene glycol based antifreeze in mine and have never had an issue. Remember, these trucks have been in use by the military for decades, long before low silicate antifreeze was around. When I was in the army in the...
I'm going to return next week when they are open and ask to look at it and see if it's for sale. I'm not interested in it, but someone else might be if it's available. As Clinto said, it looks like it has been sitting there a long time. The back is piled with junk and it looks like it might...
I did stop and knock on the door of Williams Transport, but they were not yet open, although the gate to the parking lot had already been opened. There was a guy there out front and I asked if I could go around the back and look at the truck. He said that I needed to wait until the office was...
I stopped and took some photos of the M37. Unfortunately, it was early and the facility wasn't open yet so I couldn't get in the fence. The M37 is located at Williams Transport / Williams Sand Co. at 3945 Thurmond Tanner Road , Flowery Branch, GA. I couldn't tell what kind of condition it is in.
Watch the GL auctions. I've seen some really nice ones go for very good prices. Someone near me has one for sale that appears to be in almost NOS condition. He wants $3,000.00 for it!
Never, never use a debit card for something like this. If you had used a real credit card, you could have contested the charge based on the quote and gotten your money back.
I would plan on cleaning and flushing the fuel tank and all lines, thoroughly with diesel fuel tank cleaner. Replace all three filters. Put in fresh diesel. If you do this, then you have eliminated a lot of possibilities and in addition, it should be done anyway based on your description...
I work in Duluth and travel that section of I-985 every time I go to work. I've never seen the deuce you are talking about, but then I've never looked before. I'll take a look on the way home from work today.
I would definitely go with the 105 trailer. It is a PITA to back up if you have the cover on the deuce. Without the cover, it is still a pain, but if you have any skills at backing a trailer it isn't that bad because then you can see the trailer. Pulling the 105 behind the Deuce makes you...
