Without filtering the fumes, the air filter would be terribly fauled by the oil carried out. Also, if enough oil is present a slight chance of engine runaway exists.
The lds465-2 was designed to operate completely submerged and dumps the crankcase fumes into the exhaust pipe. A valve controls...
The jury is still out on this one, I have no deadlines on this project, just checking the options and this forum is a perfect sounding board.
The upper hose should not be a problem, the lower one snakes its way down and then out to the radiator. The LDS465-2 is a little different in that it has...
Yeah, if I can find them, Memphis has very few LDS465-2 parts.
Found out that Carquest handles the Vulco-flex hoses, about $20-25/ea depending on length.
Virtually the same part except I can look up the spec on the Gates hose..
What bothers me about the flex hose is the lack of specifications other than made by Gates in Mexico.
Weighed them, molded original hose: 27 oz
NAPA flex hose: 17 oz
This is what NAPA provides...
Okay, I would have to drill it to 13/16 or so, for the external threads. The boss would be weakened, IMHO.
I'll use a through bolt for now. The purpose of it is to support the center, pivot point, of the idler arm for the fan belts. A second bolt supports one end, so there is not a lot of stress...
Thanks.
Perhaps jagjetta (John, MVM editor) can make some available in pdf format, like some of the recent articles, although, I'd like to edit some of them with new info that has come to light after long discussions here on this forum.
I have begun to look for new radiator hoses for the LDS465-2 engine and one shop suggested "Flex Hose", I'll have a sample available this afternoon. Has any of you any experience with this?

Got out the remains of the bolt this afternoon. A 1/2" bit snagged it and drove it in and loose. Had to use a chisel to turn it back out. I'm pretty sure a 1/2 inch lefthanded bit would have done wonders.
Now, the threads are damaged, so I'll be using bushings and a bolt, which goes all the way...
The TM 9-2320-260-20 (including the M817) has a 25-page section on the tachograph, so some must have had them. Also, the M915 series manual has a section on the tachograph.
Like I stated above, the M52A2 (5-ton tractor) also must have had a few since mine was a take-out from one.
Nope, never received it. Go ahead and repeat your question(s), please.
Incidentally, I'm not much for BS-ing, as those of you who know me will agree. :-)
The articles I have written for MVM take a long time, most of them a year or more to complete....
Hmmm.... I consider myself pretty good at responding to PMs. I'm sure you got an answer from me, perhaps I needed more specific questions and responded in that fashion. Must have been a while back, correct?
I can not respond to each question with an article long answer. Also some things are...
Original batteries have sealing vents, take a look at one and you'll see, good to about 4 to 5 feet of water above the top of the batteries.
Fuel tank is vented along with the MC and Airpak to the crankcase breather tube.
The transmission is pressurized via the bell housing. It has a vent also...
