Way to go Ernie, that should solve your cold weather problems and keep the engine happy too. :-)
One sold on ebay a few weeks ago, the heater has a circulation pump to heat the coolant and a shroud to heat the oil pan with the exhaust.
Congrats on completeing your road trip!
Before you change crankcase oil, have it analyzed (do a search on this site for further info).
The master cylinder vent is plumbed to the crankcase vent along with the vents from the fuel tank and brake booster cylinder, the air intake is out of the...
Thanks for your inputs! Yes, Gerhardt, practice makes perfect.
I'm looking for a Drill doctor, should clear up part of the space on the work bench. :-)
I suppose that the answers here are not news to me, just good to see how the rest of you handle the "little things" around the shop. Back in...
Rick, when you stated that you had a "new regulator from Memphis", I assumed that you had the original generator (external) regulator set-up. Sorry.
The "waterproof connector" needs to be wired via your accessory switch, so that it's 24vdc for your alternator to produce an output, it's like an...
Check the cable from the regulator to the generator, you may have a broken wire within it, more specifically, the wire which controls the field current.
Re: RE: Deuce in flood
The crankcase breather must be above water also and don't forget the bellhousing plug.
I have had my deuce compressor plumbed to the air filter canister for years without ill effects. The xm757 8x8 came that way from factory....it's nothing new.
I have accumulated a large quantity of drill bits, mostly because I tend to get a new one instead of sharpening the ones I already have.
I can do a fair job with the bench grinder, but not like new.
Question 1: Good sharpening techniqe, please describe.
Question 2: Good electric sharpener...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: bypassing the FDC
I like it Dave and get your point.
The multifuels are not rated, like most commercial engines, which can only run at "full power" for a certain amount of time, like one hour on one hour at a lower power type of thing.
The multies can run at full power...
"Post trip" inspection? Was there a hint of something being out of wack?
Loose engine mounts can cause it to hit the steering gear box, not much clearance there.
Go to the 5-ton section of the PS Magazine library for more on the tachograph.
Leonard, is the clock wind-up or electric and how do you set the time (too lazy to look it up.. )? I had one sitting here last year before it was sold, but don't remember if a key was required. BTW, it came...
Who needs rabbit's feet? :-) Found these under the battery box located under the companion seat the other day. May have been there since the day the truck was issued or perhaps a year later. Thirteen cents.....
Here is the difference, LDT on the left. The LDS465-2 also has a magnet and uses the same plug for drain and fill on the differentials also (that's where I pulled one for the picture).
The solution to viscosity problems in the cold is simply to heat the oil pan.
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: horn button issues
Hmmmm...Joel, you better check the rest of the wiring on your truck. :-)
Twist and tape is not an approved mil spec method as far as I know....
Re: RE: Re: RE: Axle Breather Valves
The pressure is 1.5 to 2 psi, enough for about 4 ft of water above the axles.
No air drier, but I do have the alcohol evaporator installed for cold weather to prevent ice build-up. IMHO the alcohol evaporator should be used on trucks with air drier also.
Thanks Mike, I'm simply putting 1/2" NPT threads in the drain plug, it's only 1/4" now.
Here is an image of the LDS dip stick boss (ports uncovered for the camera), perfect for the oil bypass filter drain. The small one in the lower right, the large opening is the turbo oil drain, of course.
The current hole is 3/8" and it does go through the bolt. It is a blind hole and about 1/4-1/2" of space beyond the broken bolt (wonder how in the world it snapped off anyhow, defective!?).
As mentioned above, the tapered screw extractor is no good, unless there is a lot of material left to keep...
