So as you passed beyond 120a and the voltage started to drop, isn’t that showing that the alternator is limiting its current, thus protecting itself? Said another way, if you had had the load bank at the batteries, and an inductive clamp at the alternator, even if you put 500a at the batteries...
people claim that for sure…
I called neihoff about my 100a alternator that I suspected had a bad regulator (mainly due to comments I’ve read on this forum) and they steadfastly refused to consider that my regulator was bad, the technician repeatedly tried to steer me back towards some problem...
I hear this a lot, but I myself haven’t come across a post where a failed alternator was definitively diagnosed. People like to claim it, but have they really broken the whole system down, removed all variables and tied it specifically to a failed alternator? Would love to see a forum post like...
The first thing I would do is disconnect the harness from alternator to the voltage regulator and thoroughly clean all the connecters on both sides. I just had a situation on the bench with a 100A alternator that was unstable holding voltage with pulsing spikes and I swapped to a new VR which...
My understanding is that the LBCD will disconnect if RPM is above 1500 RPM and the system voltage is below 20.5V
Load is not taken into consideration at all, so something as simple as corroded connectors could cause it to trip potentially. RPM comes from the AC pin which is read as Hz X 10 =...
I rebuilt my 7 ( truck/trailer/spare) and didn’t break a single screw? I only used hand tools though… but I am curious if the seat could be made available because all of mine were quite pitted and I could only clean them by hand with steel wool. It was the worst part of the job. Would love to...
I bought my M1082 trailer on 6/1/2022 and received the SF-97 right around 5/5/2023
at the 6 month mark I called and they said it must be lost so they resubmitted and it took another 5 months to show… The SF-97 is like buying a silencer for a rifle, you pay all the big bucks and then you wait 8...
ABS blinking light during different CTIS modes isn’t something mine does. Never heard of that before. I wonder if the ABS is reporting any codes at that time.
I asked my buddy who happens to be the principal engineer for Williams Controls (now Curtiss-Wright) if this can even be changed in the pedal or would it have to be done at the ECM:
“It would be in the ecm. In the pedal you'd have to make a nonlinear transfer function. The sensor is locked...
Dumb question but couldn’t you just substitute the split collars for a beefy spring that keeps the delta lock pushed onto the hub nut? Wouldn’t that completely eliminate the split collar and the risk associated with it coming loose?
I am curious on this as well, last time I checked mine don’t turn by hand, but I think one broke loose when I was winching someone out at the dunes a few months back.
This is the diagnostic kit that connects into that port, the big module in the middle of picture one is what connects there. It’s called the DCA port and WDS-A from this kit connects in there wirelessly for diagnostics. You do need specialized software to use this kit. It’s available via folks...
@GeneralDisorder has done more research than me but my understanding is that if you currently have a 100a alternator, you have to have a new alternator bracket, whether it was serpentine belt or not. Then the next item is if you do not currently have the coil over shocks, you have to change out...
Magnum Balance Beads.
The place that sold me the tires provided them, I didn’t do any research, I just went with their suggestion. Probably would try the steel balls or just skip it altogether next time, I have a bad imbalance at high speeds so I don’t feel like the balance beads have helped at...
Replaced a leaking kneeling valve and a balance bead was trapped in it. Goes to show they certainly can migrate out of the tire further up into the CTIS system.
