    2024 TX MV Rally

I’m loaded up and ready to go. I wanted to do all of this not in the mud the forecasted rain is supposed to create tonight and tomorrow.

Who makes the best aftermarket Air conditioner for M 1008?

I have a Nostalgia unit in mine but think a Vintage has got to be better. Here is a video I did about it:

Parts location 6.2 lift pump supply line

The trouble with just bending a regular neoprene hose is the radius of the curves are to tight and it will kink. Braided stainless steel hose can do the curves without kinking. However, with hose clamp nipples on each end AN fittings that work aren’t cheap. Something like this can be cut down...

Manual transmission swap and stock locker road manners

Tire pressure will really affect the “lane change” feel of the locker with a manual transmission. My M715 with a 6.2 diesel with the tires way up in pressure drives like any other vehicle. Lower the tire pressure to around 20 psi and it is a different animal. Especially on the power in 3rd gear...

Hello folks! New to me 1010. Injector Pump replacement issues!

I have never read that the M1010 had more power than the rest of the CUCV vehicles before. Nothing is mentioned in the manuals about that either. GM had 2 versions of the 6.2 back then. The EGR equipped low power version and the non EGR J code version in the CUCV trucks. The intake manifold was...

    Turning Up Injection Pump

With no turbo you really don’t feel any difference turning up the IP. At least I didn’t the time I tried it. If you get black smoke out the exhaust on a non turbo diesel you have too much fuel going in. Flooring the accelerator from a stop might give you a touch of black for a second or two...

    12 or 24 volt system

Don’t do anything else until you can verify what has been done, what parts are actually on the truck and how they are are connected.

A couple of M35a2 design and history questions

I do not know when the hard tops changed window sizes. The 1964 TM if I remember correctly has the small windows shown. But the ones from near the end of production show the sliders. I Just don’t know. Sorry.

    Alternator Wiring with Pictures

TM 9-2320-289-20. Appendix F. Page F-9 is the charging circuit wiring diagram. Click the tab at the top of this page labeled TM to access a free download. My signature is a link to my YouTube channel. I have a video about the TM’s and a few about the wiring. Not one specifically to your exact...

A couple of questions about power.

As pointed out above, the 6.2 was not designed to be powerful. It was designed to fit in the same place as a gas V8, have the same power as a 2 barrel 305 and get twice the mpg. It does that perfectly! It was also designed and used in a time when 55 mph was the law of the land. More air in is...

    Fuse/Relay Block Recommendations

No idea on the brand. They were in a stash of parts I got. I have since found out they are cheapo units. The push in fuses tend to rattle around some in my experience. Get good quality.

    Fuse/Relay Block Recommendations

I did something like that on my Cowdog Suburban. I put 2 fuse blocks on the front of the center console. 1 always hot wired directly from a battery. The other switched 12 volts from an empty spot on the left of the stock Chevy fuse panel. I run everything not stock to the 1987 truck off the...

    Wheel bearing pre load

Section 8-10 of the TM 9-2320-289-20 says 70 foot pounds for the drag link end nuts on page 8-21 which is page 454 on my pdf downloaded manual.

New Deuce owner and need help badly

I call mine the smile generator. The basic truck is an 80 year old design. Sticking with the parts designed to work together and proven to work together normally causes less issues.

    Wheel bearing pre load

Yes, all adjustment is done with the nut next to the bearing. The lock nut just locks it down. The TM’s seem to skip over this procedure. The civilian factory service manual says this: 1. torque inner nut to 50 ft. lbs. while spinning the bearing hub to seat the bearings. 2. back off the...

    Gen 1

The stock alternators are isolated ground. You will not find such a thing at a chain parts store. They are easy to rebuild and kits are available on this site from at least 1 member and on eBay. Have you by chance followed the troubleshooting steps in the -20 TM?
