I knew I should have taken Pic's.
The pic's are courtesy Sharecroppers old post and fit and look exactly like mine.
Mine is the one shot of it half rolled because it warmed here and I don't want to take it off.
Rolling it half way up should be fine and allow enough air flow until spring and it...
Installed John's CUCV winter front today on the M1028A2

Quality cover as with all his products!
Thanks John

You can punch out the old rivets or drill.
Then you need a rivet punch and backing anvil for setting the new ones.
Proper method is a rivet machine.
Best method for a shade tree wrench is find a clutch or brake rebuilder
And have them rivet on for you.
That's because there is a pending Class action Lawsuit against Bosch and GM over CP4 injection pump failure.
I'm not sure what brand additive there recommending but Stanadyne is a excellent choice IMO.

I agree to drive it and see if it clears up.
Check around the turbo housing for oil.
If wet it's either slobbering (wet stack), or the oil seals are seeping.
Tom
Welcome.
Pic's would help.
I have to wonder if he is even sure it was converted.
From what I have read you would think to some just seeing 12volt Alt. and bulbs would automatically
Assume it's converted not understanding the 12V/24Volt hybrid.
Tom
Good luck on your project.
Looks like a good truck to bring back.
The spitfire head from my understanding was on a passenger car engine.
The thought was to improve performance, Though I don't think that was proven.
More a marketing gimmick.
Your better off to rebuild the trucks engine if the...
From the looks of that starter, it needs to come off and get a freshen up.
Also the yellow paint pen marks, shows me it's a salvage yard replacement.
Tom
Can't wait for the start up Pic's.
Beautiful Job for sure.
I opted for the Key type Master switch.
Like the security it provides.
Have one installed on all my Old Iron, rubber or tracked.
Good Job
Tom
That's interesting.
We all know exhaust parts are aluminized, but for the most part
Didn't occur until the sixties, probably late sixties, then pretty much
became the standard.
I can see were later replacement parts were treated, but I doubt the
Early original trucks were.
When the first M37...
The NOS parts I believe were painted for storage protection?
With such a beautiful rebuild your doing I would find some high heat
Enamel in a darker silver, or Gray, flat black, or whatever you like, and squirt it.
Tom
I don't know what gear reduction starter your using, but yes it needs the support bracket.
Mine has one and there is also a GM part number for it, which I don't have handy at this moment.
I suppose the gear reduction racing starters from Summit or the like is what your referring too?
But if...
In addition to worn parts as mentioned, Weak sagging front spring will cause Death Wobble too.
As the front springs sag down, it changes the caster setting, which wasn't much to start with.
Tom
It's probably bound one side farther than the other.
See what side is ahead of the other, then pull the lever and bump
That side back.
Could also be it's on part of the track that hasn't been used in
A long time and just stuck.
Tom
I Drive my M1028A2 almost every day locally.
Average around 4,000 miles a year. Put about a third of that on the
M35A1.
Then I have five other trucks to drive occasionally.
When your retired you can find time to drive them all at least a little.
A truck in motion tends to stay in motion.
Tom
Good Day today.
Removed intank pump, put vane plates and end cap back on and secured.
Checked tank and screen, changed fuel filters, and engine oil for winter.
Tom
Kudos to you, on a job well done.
I didn't think anyone used a speed handle wrench anymore with all the cordless impacts around.
Thought I was the only dinosaur that had any left!
Tom
Could be the Ground as cucvrus stated. Also a bad feed wire or connection.
Last, could also be a worn turn signal switch.
Does it flash with the switch?
Get a test light and trace the circuit.
