Ok, she's done now. I'd say that painting an M936 wrecker is more intensive due to the number of angled surfaces but there are certain areas on this M920 that you have to maneuver into unlike the others.
Upgrading to a 3126 or C7 would require rewiring the truck so best stick to the 3116 by finding a 290 hp take out or follow simp's advice to keep it going longer.
Though technically a 20 ton, it fit better here than the 5 ton thread. Did the main coat and am planning on finishing up this old gal' today. Engine is a 08' rebuild Big Cam III and she was an Arizona truck so minimal rust. I'm jealous of how easy this engine turns over and idles it's just so...
I've used these guys a few times. They focus on heavy duty stuff like Semi's, loaders, etc.

Congrats on the win! Let me at least point you in the right direction to start your adventure with her.
You have an earlier model A1 truck with the Cat 3126. That being said, you also have the later of those models that came with the battery disconnect box, remote start switchs on the engine...
It's part of the airdrop design on later A1 trucks. My 2009 BAE M1093A1 has it but my 2008 S&S M1078A1R doesn't and both have the upgraded alternator, coil over relief springs, etc. So far all late LVAD and LAPES/AD trucks I've seen have it (M1081A1 and M1093A1) but I've yet to see a M1094A1...
General update. Manage to track down some electrical gremlins and get them sorted out today. She now starts and runs like a champ but there's still more electrical work investigate due to the custom work done during the transformation from M925 to Buffalo. I took the new steam washer to her and...
Yes, BFG. Most tractors I come across need their drums to be hit a few times to release. NDT's method is the correct diagnostic step for failure but this seems like a rusting issue.
This M936A2 just got new fuel lines through and through (I despise the fuel selector valve hoses), adjusted the rear PTO linkage, and other minor repairs. It's amazing how new something is when it's overhauled lazily then they deadlined it because nothing works right. Good old RRAD. BTW...
I can't help you with that one. The only one that can tell you would be Allison by using the transmission S/N to look it up. This CIN was on my 2010 M916. My 2012 M916 is also different. There was likely updated programming as trucks were produced but this is a guestimate.
Having gone though these hurdles recently I can provide you everything.
ALLISON TRANSMISSION A59 TCM Control Module, 29551869 is what you need, check ebay for about $600 used. The CIN data is what you need. Simpson posted his and I can get you a pic of mine if needed. Take everything and your...
