Well, this past weekend, I did some work on the brakes on the truck, mostly preventive maintenance... inspecting lines and such.
I check the Master Cylinder for fluid and it looked a bit low; I added a pint of DOT5. While under the truck, I noticed the brake pedal rubber stop wasn't keeping...
Some guys have run something like this:

Of course, painted, etc. I don't know how secure it would keep the rest of the truck, though. If someone wants in bad enough, just crack a window or slash a soft top. But it would definitely keep neighborhood kiddos and the "I used to drive one of...
Maybe take some air out of the tires and let them ride a little softer? What pressure are you running? I know taking the duals on my Deuce from 50 to 42 psi a piece softened up a vibration I had at about 53-55.
One search on the FDC will show the firestorms of the past concerning the perceived "need" to use the FDC to run multiple fuels. Under some circumstances, the FDC is warranted, and will keep power output linear (with biodiesel as the exception, IIRC; as Bjorn is quick to point out, it's...
I think, as well, you can probably retro-fit something you make yourself for a lot cheaper... I recall someone recently bought a mil-spec "mini-light" kit and it was several hundred bucks.
I'd be thinking "that poor multi!" You'd probably have to start out in low range!
I seem to recall reading something about how the trucks like the M35 were safer in land mine tests than the FMTV's because the wheels put the blast under the engine rather than the passenger compartment.
I think...
Perhaps I can actually make it this year -- looks like since Haspin was moved up to April-ish I probably won't be able to make that one. August, I can plan for! Hopefully I'll have the camper fixed up and in working order by then. Gotta get that dang A/C to quit leaking and fire up properly...
I am driving one of Mike's trucks right now. Great runner, and I got an Air-o-Matic and under 25K miles for less than $3000. Truck runs very strong, had no issues mechanically, and starts every time.
It was nice being able to simply walk in to the Clerk's office and walk out with a tag.
That really says a lot about the strength of the factory PTO winch. A lot of which, we already knew.
I'm sure you'll get a reward for being a good Samaritan on quite a few occasions, stretch!
When you click on the "Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite" link in yellow towards the top next to the thread breakdown (linking to sub-forum and then thread), is takes you back to the main page. It used to take you back to the sub-forums list.
Just curious if this was intentional and...
If you were a little closer, I'd take a couple wheels/tires. But I don't think I can justify driving across the state for parts. Good luck with them.
As far as the more power, grab a pyrometer and crank up the fuel until you hit 1100 pre-turbo or 900 post turbo (IIRC). DR. Foster was working...
I certainly wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers. But it's hardly 104K worth of vehicle. I believe I would have bought a lottery ticket if I were the owner that day.
