In NY - and I'm sure other states due to the federal nature of CDL, FMCSA, DoT laws etc., rotating beacons/flashing lights are to be used in recovery operations by stationary wreckers - at scene of accident etc., but must be turned off when joining the traffic again - with or without vehicle in...
Ground Spades
C'mon now, surely THIS is worthy of a new thread!
I have seen 'pins' for the 'heel' end of the spades either orientation, with feet to the cab and the other way around to the back of the truck. But the feet end securement seems a mystery. Have seen strapped spades, bolted...
Don't forget that the bottom of the tanks is 'spun' down to create the bottom and therefore smaller by the time it has gotten to the part that it stands on.
But thanks for the info on comparative sizes (same as my 816) and the yellow.
Jeff - thanks also for the info. What heights of the...
Are you looking for all of NJ and neighbouring states or just a part of NJ?
There is a Truck show "East Coast Large Cars Truck Show" or something in the NW of NJ. No idea if there is a mil section... but there should be!
I'll try to go next year. They have loads of historic trucks not just...
Not sure which one you mean - large as in Tallest (O2)
or large as in Fattest (Acetylene)!..? :-?
Thanks for the pics and dims.
Is that "School bus yellow" or a military color? Looks like the same yellow as the fat tank on the M984 - which...
Possibly for background reference - but what I/(we?) need is the dimensions etc., of the propper BII bottles. I do have the securement brackets/clamps on my empty tank holders.
I can't believe that commercially available tanks would be different. The only things that may be different would be...
Perhaps we can get some pics of the valve and any markings, also dims of bottles from S/S'ers who have had 816 or 936's come 'out' with bottles intact...
Another point - the yellow tanks on the M984E1/A3's ... are they the larger Propane tanks?
I could always section my large propane tank...
Oops - yes. I was working off of two screens and hadn't, at the time, posted the new thread!
See edit, or "New Posts".
Thanks nf6x for the cross check.
So, I wasn't lucky enough to get welding tanks on my 816, heck, didn't even get the welding tool box or torch/gauges etc. No prob. Won't be gas welding with the wrecker - have a shop set for that. But a "demo only" set would be nice. (could stencil them "M-T" as in 'nothing inside'!)...
Sounds like a new thread to me!
I need these too. Though I didn't think that size could be 'bought', just leased...
I picked up an old style big propane cyl the other day, it's got the right valve and screw on lid but it's about 2" too big in the diameter dept. It could be split length...
All I can come up with is the following... If the crane hook is used with the "swinging link" to lift the whiffle tree down from the truck, and then swung to the front lift shackles, the whiffle tree hangs horizontal, not vertical as in the pic. Then it is real easy to insert the lifting...
PLS or 'DROPS'?
"Scania" is correct
Hubs looks like a Foden, but mutch modified across the front and the windscreen is not a two piece and doors are a little different though.
Rear lights look British! But winch is US!!!???
Can't see where the steering wheel is but that is no giveaway if...
What!... ? Some UniMogs have three point hitches front AND back.
So what does that mean for M984E1-A3/MTVR owners that have essentially the same with the 'Stinger' recovery three point!!!
Doubt any of them would notice.
Nice tractor bye the way. IH 686? (Just the same as mine - also...
Funny! I have a 50mm (Euro) ball hitch on the top of my three point spear for moving our 'Goose neck' trailers while the clasp stays locked shut (I think Goose hitches are the bigger size - 2&1/8"?). It's also got a receiver tube down low for a Pintle like yours for 'army' trailers or a NATO...
Have just looked at your website, you already state that you "are fully insured" and "can recover anything from a car up to a fully loaded tractor trailer".
Not so sure about that last point - the 936 is only a 'Medium' wrecker and only carried rudimentary ground anchors/spades...
I don't...
Back up camera +++
Speaking of backup cameras, hows about a camera on the towbar!
Check out this vid - interesting part from 1:00.....
Edit for 319: No idea on the turbo - but I'm sure there are loads of factoids on the Leopard 2 ..... And yes, it does really sound good!
M816 topless
Up until now, I'd never owned a military vehicle with a hard top (M/C's included) and I don't plan on starting now.
Have to have that "topless" capability and not after 3 hours wrenching either. (3 hrs was sarcacm by the way)
... and the truck mine will be restored to - has to...
