A 6.2 works fine with the stock gears and no overdrive. That is, if you only expect MV-type speeds out of it. With 11.00's and the stock t-case, I'd guess I was rolling around 65 or so mph for about 4 hours straight once. It was howling for sure, but it held together fine. Not something I'd want...
One of my 818's had the throttle rod binding issue, too. Luckily I noticed it at the gl lot and corrected it before hitting the road. If you unbolt the rod from the linkage, then put it on the other side, you're golden. I know my description is crummy, but when you get under the truck, you'll...
I made a little more progress, but other projects are creeping in to keep me from finishing it.
The cargo covers are sorted out and all need some kind of work. The two nicest ones have a busted seam right at the top center, and all the others need straps replaced and big holes and scuffs...
Nice. It still has the paper clips on the bumper, too.
Looks like someone scrounged some steel out of the headache, though. Easy enough to fix...
I'd say you got quite a deal!
Yeah, but that's cover #2 of about 6. (or 8?) It just needs a few easy patches and some work on the straps. I'll check out the rest of them the next time I get out to the mine.
Today I took it easy and just smoothed over some rough edges inside the shelter. And the curb side bed area now has...
Mine had the same problem, and it was indeed the high beam switch.
Luckily it's a pretty easy fix. The switch is on the side of the column under the dash, and the hardest part of the whole job is getting it unplugged.
The trailer is overkill for this little piece of aluminum. An M105 would be a better fit since the frame rails are about the same width, but I don't have one laying around right now.
A few more pics.
It's mounted on the trailer, but sits higher than I originally planned. Instead of finding someone willing to do a boatload of tig welding for free, I set the whole thing on 4" I beams. Now I have a huge area under the shelter to use for more storage, water tanks, etc...
The master cylinder...
That's the plan.
I'd like to get it done within the next week, but we've been dodging a lot of raindrops lately. The thing has been at the house for three days, and it's been dry enough to work on it for almost half that time.
The rally camper project got started a few days ago and things are starting to come together. I started by unbolting a few unnessecary peices, drilled out three trillion rivets, and broke out the sawzall with a demolition blade.
There is still plenty of work to do. I need to find someone to...
I'll be there all weekend with two or three trucks, and hopefully a trailer to camp in. Trying to get my dad to come out on sat and part of sun.
M818, M35A2, M715, M200A1.
No hurry on the measurements.
I've been downloading all the manuals again since I can't find my M44 manuals right now. Once I get that done, I still have to find the information... Guess I need more practice with that!
Good point on adding weight to the front when the interaxle is lifted...
I've been doing research to set up for a little multiple-truck piggyback towing with the 818 in the lead of two deuces. One tractor and one tanker.
I found the curb weights, and the weight that sits on the front axle, and both rears for each truck.
For an M275A2 wow, the weight at the front...
