Forget about the old starter type. The selenoid is a typical weekness. There is a new replacement they say ist is more reliable, # 6598N. The Army changed to that starter type about 2 or 3 years ago due to unsuffciant reliability of the previous one.

The military trailer can live with the 12 V of the recepticale due to 2 glowing wires in the military bulbes. Only one is light.
The black out system is no good for 12 V, it needes some 24 V to function to suffisiant brightness (even it is not a big lot, but it needs it...).
