I have good service from fel-pro. I strongly recomend you replace the head bolts. They will and do strech. But before you pull the heads grab a tourque wrench and retourque them. See how much they have streched. You might get lucky and get them to seal. If so. Replace the bolts with out...
Inspect the compressor and compressor side housing to see if any blade tips broke off. Sometimes they will break a intake valve when the go flying down the intake stream if they are big enough.
I have the same problem with my 82 K20 with a 6.2 I have replaced thermostats and it still ran cold. I installed a ball valve in the heater hose return to the rad. To throttle back the flow. The engine then warmed right up to 180. Before that i froze by butt off in cold weather.
Don't let it idle. The turbo will cool and not seal as well. Also you will have more unburned fuel when cooler. Allowing black smoke. But it should smoke a little. After all it was made before emmission controls.
You might want to pull the hub off anyway. To clean the gear oil off of the brake shoes and drum. Hard brake use could start a fire. Also to see how much life is left on the brake shoes. Once you have the hub off you can pop the old seal out with a screwdriver and install a new one. Like K503...
Oh wow i must have been mistaken. I was under the impression the brass used the same spring as the nylon. I thought you just swapped them out for the brass?
While reading another thread about death wobble i came across a discussion about using brass king pin bushings instead of the nylon ones. Has anyone used these yet? How did they work out? It is started they are for racing only. Not street use. Anyone know why?
It will burn just fine. I have tried turbine oil in my M35. Although mine was used oil. I'd sudjest mixing it with diesel and or gas untill you see how your truck wil react. Just use it as a additive to keep your fuel costs down. I mix other oils/fuels in mine just to keep costs down, not as a...
Do you have the turbo with the wastegate? If so your pretty much maxed out. You can increase the fuel rate to get more power. The turbo will preform much better. Installing a bigger turbo will need more heat to run at it's best. You limiting factor is the head gaskets. Multis dont like too much...
Kevin, Sounds like the solenoid is wasted. My 1028a2 has done this. It melted inside and made contact between the battery cable and the small terminal telling it to engage the starter. But not enough power is getting by to charge the coil strong enough to pull the bendix so the gear will engange...
SLOW DOWN!!!! over revving a 6.2 for long periods will get you a busted crankshaft!! Trust me i've broke a few. Also check your harmonic balencer. Look at the rubber in between the hub and outer ring. When these go bad it will scatter the engine. I usally run in the 50 MPH range. With short...
It does everything. I haul dirt, drive it to work, remove stumps, run power tools off of the compressor, get fire wood, get in and out during hurricanes/floods and park it next to the house for a ladder when i need to get on top of the roof. It is the neatest thing since sliced bread. It have had it...
you can jump it with a 12V wehicle. Just put your cables on the weak battery. But i have the best result when the charging vehicle is on the secondary battery.
Has any one ever tried using a mag type heater to thaw the fuel tank? I know if left to long you would probally end up with a pretty fire. Mabye something like a 300w?
The CUCV will easily slave the 5TON. I have done this many times. The 5TON will easily slave the CUCV also. The only trouble i have had is slaving a CUCV with something older with a 25AMP generator. Like a MV from the 50's.
