    Auxiliary M998 Gas tank

The Hummer H1's had auxiliary tanks. You have to get a rear bumper and later style trailer hitch for the tank to mount to, plus all the specific things like brackets and skid plate.

Something Leaking behind front driver side tire

Looks like either the input seal for the half-shaft or output seal on the spindle. Its been gone over many times on the forum and a quick search should get you what you want.

    Truck won't start

We don't live very far apart and mines had no trouble starting in these temps and I dont have a block warmer. It takes a couple extra cranks and there is some smoke, but it always catches.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Instead of 4 removable pins, replace the bottom two with bolts/nuts. This tightens it up a bit but still allows the guard to swing down when you have to open the hood.

Looking for a good HMMWV mechanic in Maryland.

Wouldn't think you need a HMMWV specific mechanic for this. The 6.2/6.5 with th400 came in a lot of chevys.

    Snow?!

Yep I've never had a problem with the heater but my soft top seals pretty well. I have an almost new set of Goodyear MT/R's on the truck and never had a problem with traction in the snow and didn't air them down any. I have noticed that the rear is easy to lose traction when relatively hard...

    Snow?!

Couple years ago we got a pretty decent snow, it was awesome. Helped a few stuck people and even pulled a good sized flatbed tow truck up a steep hill when he couldn't make it on his own.

    HMMWV Hub temps?

I was advised that the hubs should not get hot enough to make them uncomfortable to hold your hands on for extended periods. When I rebuilt my hubs I found that the input bearings were a major cause of heat and I had to keep adding shims to the retainer till they ran cooler, the output bearings...

    FYI: Wheels and tires

Don't see how those would work any better than the tapered nuts and at $13 each from HPG I'm not about to find out haha

    FYI: Wheels and tires

I'd ask how its supposed to be done since the 24 bolt wheels don't have the centering hole?

    FYI: Wheels and tires

Once I realized those nuts on the wheels were lock-nuts there was no way I was gonna do them by hand. Cinched them all down in a star pattern with the impact and haven't had a problem and I've driven my truck over 10k miles. These were 24 bolt wheels so that might help spread the load on the...

    HMMWV rusty frame rails

Boiled linseed oil dries and forms a protective film over the metal surface, I did it inside the H1 trailer hitch I have.

    Oil pressure indication

I got rid of my electrical gauge and replaced it with a cheap Bosch mechanical from advanced auto, it fit right in the same hole perfectly. I routed the plastic tube through the hole with the wiring harness and it came with all the fittings necessary to replace the original sender. From what I...

    White smoke at start up

That much white smoke sounds like it could be coolant in the cylinders. Does it have a sweet smell?

    What is this?

Your picture isn't loading for me but I'm gonna guess its the bell housing drain. If its leaking trans fluid its probably the torque converter or your transmission input seal. You would have to pull the trans to see.

How NOT to drive a HMMWV.

When you have one wheel in the air you want to apply slight brake pressure before the gas, this locks the differential so both wheels turn. You also never want to slam on the brakes when you have a free spinning wheel. This puts a huge load on the half shafts and they can shatter when they try...

Need help with my M998 Heater

+1 I have the stock heater on a 6.2 and it puts out plenty of heat when the truck is warm. It was low 40's outside and I was wearing shorts and a sweatshirt going to/from the gym and I had to put the heater on the low setting because the truck got so warm.

    My fan

Well the fan shouldn't be running from when its first powered on, so I would probably start there.

    Dome Light Cable

According to the documentation on page 33 it should be 97b-3106F-10SL-3S. Finding one is probably the hard part, maybe give them a call? http://www.amphenol-in.com/pdf/ms97series.pdf
