3rd annual Dickson,TN Airport military vehicle and airplane show

Just found out that a P51 Mustang will be in attendance and other vintage airplanes always show up. Last year I think we had about 10 Mvs and more are always welcome.

    Mack RD822sx

I've never been to the Mack Museum, for all I know they may already have one of them. I have been in contact with them so they do know about the truck. I would consider letting them have it if they could come up with compensation, I'm really not in the financial position to donate it. About...

    Mack RD822sx

I just found another truck from the Desert Storm Macks. It's a RD888sx sold through GL out of Barstow about a year ago. Ended up going to the North Dakota oil fields. Below is a pic. If you'll notice, it has the bulldog missing also. I wonder if this was a military requirement (like the Ford...

What does it mean when the fuel pump impeller feels 'magnetized"?

I suspect a bad motor or a short in the wiring. The impeller is supposed to be magnetized. That's how it works. There is no hard connection between the motor and impeller, it is driven by magnetic force. I would assume it is this way to keep fuel out of the motor and not have to worry about a...

    Mack RD822sx

See post 11. From the info I found, all the Mack RD800 used in Operation Desert Storm had the standard 2" 5th wheel. My truck was in fact one of the trucks used in Desert Storm and it has a standard 2" 5th wheel. They also built trailers specific to this mission and they had a 2" kingpin. The...

    Mack RD822sx

I have contacted the Mack Museum about the history of the truck. They have copies of all the Mack records and are going to give me all the records they have on it. The funny thing is, this truck has more than likely seen more action than any of my MVs. Even though it's a civilian model and the...

    Mack RD822sx

The Bulldog must have ran away. It's got a place for one but it's not there. There's one on the way from Ebay.

    Mack RD822sx

No. I found out the problem. Some idiot Had the batteries hooked up wrong. The truck starts on 24v but all accessories are 12v. I really don't understand how the system works but there is a box on the back of the alternator that lets the alternator charge the 24v wired batteries but sends 12v to...

    Hard to find deuce parts

Memphis is usually my last choice but when nobody else has the part, they will have it. I'm not 100% sure they have every part for a deuce but they have a massive parts dept and I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The down side is cost. I've always had great service from them but they are high...

    Mack RD822sx

Finally got to put the old girl to work a little this week. I hauled 4 loads grossing around 160,000lb each. This is actually a small load for us but I'm about maxed out until I get a bigger trailer. The truck didn't even know it was back there. I've still got to add a caution light to the...

M915a1 vs. M352a2 for Hauling logs

A deuce won't haul 12 tons. I've seen 9 tons on a deuce once and while it did haul it, it wasn't pretty. Most loggers around here used to run deuces but they wouldn't hold up very well with big loads over rough logging roads. All that I know of have since switched to M939 5-tons and haven't...

Winch mount complete but a question...

Since you said "Warn", I assume you're talking about a electric winch. I've got a Milemarker hyd that I can get you the bolt pattern from if needed. I think it's listed on the Milemarker site also.

    Winch drum not turning?

Looks like the rebuilder didn't know what he was doing. That's bad for somebody to sell you a "rebuilt" winch knowing they had all those parts left over when they put it back together.

    welder choice...

The only thing you'll have to learn switching from gas welding over to stick or mig is your speed. Once you get the gas welding down pat, you can go as fast (relatively speaking) or as slow as you want. With stick or mig, once you strike the arc you've got to match your speed to the welder...

    15 minute rule - flustrating

Actually what I do in that situation is start watching a hour before close time and usually won't bid until their is about 30 minutes left. I may get outbid and move over to another lot before close time but after set close time I usually just let my max bid ride and check back later to seen how...

    Mack RD822sx

When you get into trucks this size, one steering box just isn't enough to turn the front wheels when loaded heavy. What you have is one steering box in the normal location on the drivers side of the truck and the shaft from the steering wheel goes into it. On the passenger side you have another...

    Mack RD822sx

I just found out some info on this truck. "Allentown, PA – Mack Trucks, Inc., which gained its Bulldog identity during World War I, has again rallied its troops to support America’s military. According to Sam Carr, Mack’s manager of international accounts, Mack people, dealers, customers and...

1991 RD822sx 500hp Mack V8 engine. Mack engine brake (Dynatard) 26,000 miles showing on the speedo Mack 12 speed trans. 65,000lb (I think) Mack rears. 22,000lb (I think) front axle. Dual steering boxes. Walking beam suspension. 11.00-24 tube tires on the rears, 12.00-24 tube tires on front. A/C...

    Mack RD822sx

I bought the truck from the city of New Johnsonville,TN surplus sale. The truck had "Tennessee Army National Guard" painted on the door and "Ft Campbell DRMO" written in paint marker on the bumper. I'm trying to find some history on it but I'm coming up with dead ends (wish Carnac was still in...

    Mack RD822sx

What did the military use these trucks for? As far as payload capacity, it would be comparable to the M1070 HET.
