Nice writeup! I think I need to do this with my drivers side window because every time it rains I get water dripping on my feet and I think its coming around the gasket, the glass itself is fine. I heard a trick you can do if the RTV is really holding on to the gasket is to use some high test...
I'd probably remove the crossover and try to get it out, then the worst possible thing that could happen is you have to buy a new crossover which isn't expensive. Maybe try a large easy out that they use on bolts when they shear off?
To my knowledge 7k axles aren't available anymore, they were replaced with 10k a while ago. Only the old trucks that they are sending to auction would have 7k axles and if they broke they were replaced with 10k ones. That's why some trucks have 7k mixed with 10k. I don't know what AMG is...
7.3k: notice the size of the sloped area
10k: Its hard to take a picture but the cup here has flat spots that you can feel with your finger, the 7k cup is smooth all the way around.
Notice the increased number of bellows on the boot and the sloped area is much less.
From what I've seen there are 3 different halfshafts. The early 7.3K ones, the later 10.3K and the 12k. The 7.3 and 10k are interchangeable but I know the 12k need a new input gear in the hubs and I think new brake rotors and caliper mounts and such. Generally the 7k will have boots with fewer...
You're probably right, but I already bought it and I'm a sucker for cool little addons haha. It did give me a chance to take the pins out of the caliper and grease them a little so they move smoothly, they were a little tight. The guys over on the h1 forums were talking about a new rubber boot...
Alright so I started on this project today thinking it would only take a couple hours to do the front and back. Wrong. 5 hours to do the front with new pads and rotors. The line that connects the line off the proportioning valve to the front tee was bent the opposite of what it needed to be. Not...
I put aftermarket on mine but I just looked and the part numbers are worn off the belts. I do know they were a delco part though. I think we used the belts from a 1993 h1 without AC but one set was too short or something.

From the directions in the kit it doesn't seem too difficult. Haven't done it myself though.
